Cafe Cafe KL
One of the giants of French dessert salons has finally landed in our humble shores! Really excited to try out Paul's as I first got to know it through social media of it's opening.. this ever famous pastry salon is everywhere across France and you can even find it in a Gas station or an R&R place too.. They are really famous for their Giant macaroon which is a huge cookie.. This shop is located on the corner which connects you from the Pavilion Elite block to the Pavilion shopping mall block.. Its quite easy to spot with it's French interior that is so alluring.. The atmosphere is really homey yet it's still retains the allure of France and you can have a view of the working kitchen with its chef hustling and bustling making delicious pastries.. For this visit, we had the Red Berry Tart (RM18) which has a very attractive look and the generous portion of it makes it a great sharing dessert if you're after something light or you can have it alone if you're hungry.. The pastry of this tart is really flaky and brown.. The tart is really interesting with its combination of flavours from the tartness of the raspberries and blueberries alongside the hint of sweetness of its strawberry.. Their service is quite relax and not to say the most friendly.
Quiet little cafe that is quite open-aired, provides more of the arts & craft gifts and workshop but not really the ideal place for hanging out or study as it very hot (considering our Sahara weather).. The menu here are relatively simple and they do provide set lunch menu but that's until 2pm.. The French toast with some creamy caramel and freshly peeled banana.. Well it's a nice little brekkie portion but not really fascinating as for me it doesn't leave an everlasting tango impression in my tongue.. It's flavours are rather 1-dimensional.. Maybe they can add in some crispy bacon or something colorful, more on the textural side of this dish to make someone just want to tango for more of it.. The coffee here are interesting but the one I had was a gingerbread latte which evidently has a strong after taste of that ginger and some spices that is well associated with the famous holiday cookie..
This is an interesting surprise considering that most of the food here is mainly to the Asian culinary influence but in the menu, a particular dish from the main section caught my eye! Well it sounds simple and intriguing to try.. (Note: not to go for their dessert or their appetizers). This is quite a generous portion of halibut being served that was poached with the buttermilk that softens and tenderize the protein of the fish yet brings it a tangy taste to it.. Their mushroom consommé was inspired from the French technique of making a clear soup which is mainly with meat but for this instance it is made with mushroom and vegetable stock which brings a hint of woody taste and aroma to it that goes quite well with the milky fish
It's a fusion of western, Japanese and Chinese.. Appearance wise it looks pretty good and portion is generous.. The moment we cut open the pancake reveals the massive interior which is crispy and oil drenched fried noodles or yee mee with a bed of red cabbage.. Sadly it wasn't that an appetizing combination.. The pancake without it was alright the egg was silky but lack the basic fundamentals which is seasoning and the red cabbage wasn't at their best.. The bacon doesn't serve any purpose there in my humble opinion.. I rather have salami on top of it.. It's pretty and big but no sparks in it
One of the signature dishes at this popular establishment.. The South China Sea which consist of the salmon being pan seared beautiful moist and tender.. The combination of salmon with the diced pineapple, mango, green and red bell beepers brings it a crunchy element and not to forget the crispy onion that gives it's some sweet crunchy taste to the salmon.. Pure deliciousness ! Not to forget their poached egg which is really nice and runny in the middle
Truly a disappointing dessert.. When first asked the strawberry option, it was finished and settled with a blueberry option.. In terms of taste it's really bland, as it was all frozen and frosty.. Too hard to eat them and there isn't any ice cream flavour to it.. Not happy about it
Coffee seems smaller now considering that in the past it was a huge coffee cup.. Nonetheless the coffee still is nice
Why not! It's simple, delicious and not oily #afoodiesaffair #happy #french #burpple #kl #yeast #midvalley

Newly open Boulangerie in midvalley which is fairly busy.. The environment there is alright but not like the telawi one.. Their mini raspberry tartlet is really dainty yet delicious if you just opt for a bite of sweets and a perfect size as tea time treat
