Massive, super fresh scampi grilled till smoky yet still retaining that bouncy succulence. Seems simple but this was executed excellently and put a smile on my face.

The tender, strippy chicken possessed a punchily spice-rubbed skin, with the tender flesh soaking up the memorable, degenerately drunk bourbon maple syrup with gusto. Elsewhere, the waffles evoke memories of the crusty, toasted tops of cheese buns from the neighbourhood confectionery, and the juicy, limey watermelons were little cubes of mocktail magic. 4.1/5

My favourite dish of the lot that I had tried at Venue by Sebastian; possibly even one of the more noteworthy dishes that I have had for the year too.

The Chilean Seabass was already a stunner by itself; so soft and flaky with its moisture locked within that there is simply no need for much effort to disintegrate it with the use of a fork — it just falls off delightfully on its own. While we enjoyed the bacon and mushroom ragout which was all sorts of earthy and savoury flavours which brought part of the dish's umami flavour, it was the Truffle Yuzu Butter that brought this dish to the next level. Unlike the Duck Confit, the truffle takes the back seat in this dish; the sauce itself was smooth and silky with a largely buttery flavour but the Yuzu helps create a short tang that only shows up for a split second near the finish, while the truffle adds richness to the sauce — helps to ante up the flavours and even provided a smoother texture to the already excellent seabass. It's one of those dishes that one would find sad to find it disappear off the plate — definitely one that I would recommend too!

Chef Roy has done Onsen Tamago so well now he up its taste with the additional ingredients. The taste is definitely different and better. Try it when you're here.

4 sticks for $6. Incredible value for money. Quality is good but don't expect this to be an eye opener. This is the kinda place you'll come back again with big groups for the quantity and enjoyable food! I can see this becoming a regular port of call for impromptu post-work dinners or casual buddy hangouts. Clientele is a good mix of Japanese and locals. Provides an English friendly menu.

Only $22++ for this glorious bowl with an appetizer, salad, miso soup and dessert. Love that there are less common fish in this bowl, such as silverfish. The rice was well seasoned, but really what impressed me was how delicate and fresh the ikura roe were - sometimes I find them too aggressively salty and briny. Super fresh fish and just great value. The restaurant is so beautiful as well, I loved the open kitchen and counter display of the fresh fish options available.

Brought the parents for a lunch treat at Esquina last month and was quite blown away at how spectacular the food was. And at just $38++ for 5 courses, this has gotta be the best lunch steal around.

This was one of the starter options on the menu for the day – cauliflower florets roasted to a glowing yellow complete with charred edges, served with crusty pieces of serrano ham on a bed of cauliflower "cous cous", and given a finishing shower of freshly grated tendrils of Manchego. So brilliant.

‪#‎DehesaSG‬ may have only opened mid-December, but it easily ascended into my #Bestof2015 list with chef-owner Jean-Philippe Patruno's focused menu of robustly-flavoured offal dishes and finessed ‪#‎Spanish‬ classics. #readaboutitontheblog - http://bit.ly/dehesasg

It was a real *jaw-drop* moment when Chef Lorenz placed this in front of me. I mean, just look at those huge, thick slices of white Alba truffles! Beneath them were freshest raw prawns, neatly-arranged perfect specimens of spinach and a raw quail's egg embellished with real gold flakes. This is a dish that truly qualifies as priceless.

It's hard to explain why this combination works so well, but one taste and you'll understand this genius. I can't wait to come back to share this with my friends, this meal at ding dong was all kinds of wonderful. Super impressed by the strong south East Asian flavors throughout the meal, but reimagined with technical precision. Imagine a crisp leg of duck confit sitting in a mild curry, punctuated by fresh passion fruit, and gently balanced out by grated raw cauliflower that lends a surprisingly creamy note. Just. Wow. Also blown away by their Wagyu beef char siew (!!) and their fantastic cocktails. Prices aren't ridiculous considering the quality of food. Come for a fun date night, or an intimate meal with your best friends. Best for a Friday night after work, remember to start and end with cocktails! P.s. Really loved the Ca Phe cocktail, it tasted like the most heady breakfast coffee 😄
