Crispy and savory Korean pancake. The first bite was ok but when the bill came I was speechless. .

Overused of flour. The oil was dirty and the base was burnt. .

Two pax of Galbi, extra rice cake and one Korean pancake = S$80++. You be the judge.
"Teow Chew Meng" is a well-known eatery from Penang that has been covered extensively in press and online for their unique cooking. And "Mee Sua Tow" is one of the dishes everyone orders when they come by here. For the smallest serving of $8, you get a large bowl of "mee sua" cooked in a slightly starchy soup that has vegetarian "shark's fin", prawns, slices of garoupa fish, fish maw and mushrooms in it. I personally like the generous heap of coriander, spring onion and fried garlic bits as they help to enhance the flavours even more. This dish is a good representation of comfort food done well, which I know I will crave again for more. There are other items on the menu that I am keen to try as well, so it looks like I'll be coming back here very soon to 259 Tanjong Katong Road.
Signature Bak Chor Dry Mee Sua - extra chilli + extra black vinegar... yumms. I love it with lots of chopped spring onion ❤️
S$3.50 each with Triple Chocolate or Fig & Honey. Really tempting, but was too full after dinner. Made a mental note to try this soon.
There's too many variants of waffles we had seen everywhere; ice-cream waffles, fried chicken waffles and even chocolate waffles, but 23Jumpin does a variant that is refreshing in the scene. Combining waffles and pizza, the Pizza Waffles comes in two flavours currently; Mushroom & Cheese and a Hawaiian. Sitting atop a crisp and moist waffle that's full of buttery aroma, you could actually taste the batter even though it comes with a generous portion of cheese for both flavours. Mushroom & Cheese was creamy and earthy; pretty rich and should appeal to those who love their mushrooms. My personal favourite was the Hawaiian which comes with tomato sauce spread, topped with ham and pineapples. The juicy cubes of pineapple does the trick with its zestiness which gives the Pizza Waffle a refreshing flavour boost. Fancy both flavours? You can order a Yuan Yang where you get to have both just like how I did. Thanks to owner Gary who invited me down to try out their newest creation served on their menu.
Today I had the privilege to taste the first burger and steak ever served at the Wildfire Kitchen + Bar. The burgers are modeled after the famous Blacows burgers found in Tokyo. I was served the Classic 001 ($16) with a special twist- helmed by a fullblood Wagyu patty. Every bite was satisfyingly juicy, and the patty was flanked with golden cheddar goodness and beer caramelized onions. The brown buns held their shape while maintaining softness and sweetness. What’s best, you can finish off with a bottle of craft beer at only $9 (Happy hours 6-8pm) in an alfresco or indoor environment. All in all, this burger lover will be back again!
Not to be mistaken with the Hello Kitty Sweets restaurant in Taipei city, this little store @ 淡水老街 sells mainly pasties, pineapple tarts, mochi and cookies packaged in the cutest Hello Kitty fashion. Kitty fans will approve of this 😄
Too cute! As seen at the Teddy Bear (泰迪熊) gift store in 淡水老街.
Measuring about an inch in thickness, this glossy glory of a bacon chop is pure stickily-sweet, smokey meatiness. It is a must-have whenever I am at Artichoke, regardless of whatever else I may be ordering.
So i had to check out Teppei's new outfit in town. Their kaisen don mimics the bara at Teppei to a T - generous chunks of plump, juicy raw fish scattered on a bed of al dente, grainy rice. My only gripe was that his famous house-made marinade was too salty. Oh and that the negitoro roll had no negitoro in it all and cost me $3.
My favourite Korean bbq joint, Wang Dae Bak never fails to satisfy with its spread of perfectly marinated meats, refreshing banchan side dishes and signature liquid egg poured from a teapot straight into the semi-circular hotplate moulds to form slightly sweetish yet delicate egg cakes that I can't get enough of. Best accompanied with a bottle of Chum Churum soju and in the company of good friends.
