Loving this rendition of lei Cha chilled noodles which I term as Chinese pesto 😇.
Instead of having your leicha with rice - why not noodles ? Springy noodles with a saturated lei Cha pesto.
Slap on some chilli and your are ready to slurp !
This is so good 🥺🥺 a good twist to a hot bowl of leicha rice!! Nothing beats this yummy and fragrant leicha cold noodles!!!!! Look at the lava egg.... ❤
The leicha soup was nutty, fragrant and flavourful from the peanut & basil blend. It wasn’t bitter, and I liked it even though I usually shy away from leicha soup.
The ingredients were well seasoned, and had good balance in terms of flavour and texture. Out of all the ingredients, I like the mani cai best, as it had sweet natural flavours. The caipo is crunchy and not salty, tofu was fragrant.
It wasn’t oily like I had remembered it to be, or maybe the ABC market franchise one has more oil. It’s a good lunch option!
I seldom would pose such a “ pretty” composition of food photo -
But just to show my displeasure this time maybe .
I asked for the egg to be replaced with vegetables ( just like what I did at my previous order ) and was told this time by a new stall attendant that - “ only 2 vegetable types and just a small sample portion “ .
When the onsen egg costs 1.20 on the alarcarte menu , I don’t see how “ more expensive “ were the vegetables than the egg . In fact , the vegetables should be cheaper - sorry they are not using organic vegetables here like what some other shops do .
So the stall owners were debating amongst themselves while I stood there watching .
Just give me my noodles , will you ?
Dish: Really fresh & leafy vegetables (the dark greens especially were very tasty), nicely cooked tau pok (which have a slightly crispy skin), and moist brown rice.
Tea: An interesting twist to Lei Cha with blended peanuts (suspected) which adds that extra creaminess and saltiness the tea. A tad bit saltier than usual teas because of that.
Sides: Didn’t get to try their speciality meatballs and tau pok, but they looks decent.
$4.5 without tofu or meat balls. Add tofu is $1 more, meatballs as well.
The place is nice and clean, food is healthy and delicious but not vegetarian diet because it contains garlic.
It also has cabbage, cowpea, small tofu, peanut, and more vegetables I cannot name.
Pour the green soup (擂茶)into the rice and mix them up, nothing could be better than that.
If I only use one word to describe thunder tea rice: heaven.
I strongly recommend you to try this shop. But that food market is always super crowded haha so maybe around 11 am? Otherwise you may not be able to order that special tofu or find any seats.
