Lao Chen Ji (Holland Drive Market)

Yong Tau Foo fans and Kolo Mee fans, why not have both? Lao Chen Ji from Holland Drive Food Centre serves both at once and I must say, it was simply incredible.

The noodles may seem plain, but it was packed with flavour as it was nicely tossed in their chilli sauce and other seasonings. Loved how the noodles were really springy and had loads of umami! Chilli wasn't too spicy as well! So glad I got the large portion of noodles as it was simply addictive 😍 The YTF pieces were pretty great as well, as quite some meat was stuffed within the pieces. Although the meat within might be more light tasting, the soup was robust and quite naturally flavoured by what I believe are yellow beans. 5 pieces of YTF and a large portion of noodles were priced affordably at $5.40 too.

Definitely coming back for more! The queue during lunch time might scare you but it does move quite fast!

One of the stalls that you can find queue in this hawker centre, Lao Chen Ju is famous for their yong tao fu that you can pair with a bowl of kolo mee.

Choose minimum 5 pieces of yong tao foo, each of them are delicious and taste well with the soup.

The kolo mee has lots of minced meat and fried shallots on the top. Remember to ask for spicy version to get the kick of taste.

Eggy and tender noodles with lean char Siew and tasty Wantons .

Opted to exclude the tomato sauce for a more traditional taste .

Really reminds me of the good old taste.

THIS IS SO GOOD like omg they truly cooked the noodles well that it turns out springy!! Also the right amount of sauce that the noodle isnt too dry or too wet!! IT'S SO SIMPLE BUT DONE SO RIGHT. For me at least.
