We tried the lala hotpot with the deluxe set and honestly, the experience wasn’t great. The lala were small with barely any meat and quite a few didn’t open up, which made them feel less than fresh. Felt like we were paying more for shells than actual clams.
The broth had a nice briny base but Hua Diao wine was self-service and they didn’t bother topping it up when it runs out. Soup refills weren’t prompt either. We had to keep asking and sometimes they expected us to do it ourselves.
On top of that, payment had to be made first so every time we wanted to add on, we had to walk over, pay and then continue with the meal. It broke the flow and made the whole experience feel a bit inconvenient.
The deluxe set itself was decent with pork belly, prawns, fish slices, crab sticks, luncheon meat, meatballs, quail eggs, veg and mushrooms. Ingredients were fresh but overall, the lala and service fell short and the payment system made it hard to enjoy the meal fully.
