Ipoh Bercham

While I love French beans, it was not our first choice. Sin Choy Kee is one of the few restaurants which serves Pucuk Paku, a type of local fern. That was our first choice. It is difficult to find and absolutely yummy. Sin Choy Kee serves it with salted egg. You can imagine my disappointment when we were told they had no stock 😭.

We then decided to have baby French beans. Their reply was that their French beans were very small 😂. Oh well ... it was still fried well, firm to the bite and yummy.

Zi char in Ipoh is really cheap and good. We ordered 6 dishes - mantis shrimp, sting ray curry, pork ribs, tofu and 2 vegetables - for 10 people and we only paid 144 ringgit.

Again we didn't manage to eat this the night before so we had a craving to satisfy. This is my one of my favourite vegetables.

Due to the proximity to Cameron Highlands, we usually get fresh and plump ones in Ipoh. Combine that with the fat and juicy Ipoh bean sprouts and you will have plenty of crunch. I usually prefer my green dragon vegetables with less bean sprouts but in Ipoh, I don't mind it as much.

The bean sprouts are soo good in Ipoh even though these are nowhere close to the high grade ones you get at the popular ngar choy kai (bean sprouts chicken) restaurants.
