First time trying the fried pork organs (offals) porridge. Has a flavourful wok hei. Ingredients were nicely cooked, not overly.
It's still very good, but maybe it's us, we felt that it wasn't as mind-blowing as before.
The braise is damn weird tho, I don't like it
After a short hike up Bukit Timah Hill, we went to check out @fengxiangbkt located at Beauty World.
Famed for their KL-Style Bak Kut Teh and Fried Porridge, I was really fascinated with the rousing flames from the stove as the chef skilfully flips the wok. Just a look at it, one could imagine the tantalising scent of wok-hei to be tasted. Swipe to watch it!

The star dish of the day! Every mouthful of porridge was bursting with wok-hei! Though the wok-hei flavour here tasted a little different from the usual, we thoroughly enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the smooth consistency throughout the bowl of porridge.

@fengxiangbkt specialise in โauthentic Klang Bak Kut Tehโ, serving up Herbal and Dry Bak Kut Teh in claypot. I find the Dry Bak Kut Teh to be rather unique as I donโt usually see it on menu. While their fried porridge gave me a pleasant surprise, I canโt help but feel a little disappointed with their Bak Kut Teh dishes. It seems to be lacking the depth and robustness that I was expecting.
We also got sides such as ๐ ๐ ๐๐จ๐ซ๐ค ๐๐ฎ๐ญ๐ฅ๐๐ญ, ๐๐จ๐ฎ๐ญ๐ข๐๐จ and ๐ ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ to go along with the mains.

First look at this and I was worried that it might end up too sweet since it looked very well-coated in dark soy sauce. Happy to report that it didnโt! There was a sweetness, but it was balanced out nicely with the slight spice and strong touches of savoury notes with strips of cuttlefish. Enjoyed how fresh and crunchy they were too.
Thank you @fengxiangbkt for the kind invite! โจ
Crunchy, well-marinated and not at all too salty or oily. There were some slices that were quite fatty, but we didnโt mind it. Thereโs a couple of fried porridge options and one of them is with this pork cutlet as a topping - Iโd recommend that because you get a taste of both items. On its own in this ala carte portion, it would better for sharing.
