Squid Ink Noodles

I think small sharing plates are the trend lately!
[+] potatoes, ham and egg is 👍🏼
[+] garlic prawn is 👍🏼👍🏼
[+] squid ink noodles paella is like vermicelli with squid ink! this is the first time I’m trying something like this and it’s good! The paella was flavourful and the clams that came with it were fresh.
[+] Churros con chocolate was a great way to end the meal
[-] suckling pig was not fantastic. it was quite dry and nothing special
[-] Tapas + item - steak was nicely done but not as impressive as the other dishes. The mashed potato was nice.
[-] Major downside is that you can only eat for 1.5 hours here (only weekends?). It was quite rush considering it’s a tapas place and you should be able to enjoy each dish with a nice drink. But I Guess that’s how they keep the price fairly affordable.

Verdict: Worth the price and calories
Average: $40 per pax (we ate a lot)

The place is really crowded during the weekends so reservation is a must!

Already serving authentic Spanish fare at very fair prices, especially considering its prime Orchard Road location, Tapas Club racks up further value points for its super budget-friendly Tapas Set Lunch ($12.90). Available Mondays to Fridays from noon to 2pm, the set offers four tasty variants, with main options like chicken and seafood paella and squid ink noodles paella. Each main comes with a different side (the mushroom croquettes sound delish), tomato bread and a soft drink, which we highly encourage that you upgrade to a Sangria (additional $3) for a boozy lunch. According to Burpple Tastemaker Wei Zhi Chiang, the portion sizes are just right, which leaves you with just enough space to share the popular Churros Con Chocolat ($8) with a few friends. The freshly fried dough sticks arrive warm and sport a lovely golden crisp, and are best eaten dipped in the bittersweet chocolate sauce.

Located at the far end of the second floor of Orchard Central, The Tapas Club is the place to go with friends for authentic Spanish dishes at wallet friendly prices. Tapas, or sharing plates, start from $9.90 and nothing on the menu is over $25. Order their homemade Bread with Olive Oil and Vinegar ($5) to start, before moving on to their tapas. Of all that we tried, we liked the tender Beef Cheeks with Idiazabal Cheese ($12.90), the comforting Egg, Potatoes and Ham ($12.90) and the Baby Squid with Fried Egg ($12.90). Be sure to order the Squid Ink Noodles Paella ($25) that is great for sharing in a small group. The unassuming looking dish is surprisingly flavourful and the little charred noodle bits on the base of the pan fondly reminds us of claypot rice. Mix well for maximum satisfaction. End your meal on a sweet note with their Churros with Chocolate Sauce ($8) — it's one of the better churros we've had in a while.

I haven't been very adventurous with Spanish food in Singapore BUTTTTT I think I found my new favourite paella.

Made with fideos noodles (similar to vermicelli), this squid ink version from Tapas Club is then topped with clams and small cubes of squid.

Give it a good mix (don't miss out on the charred bits on the sides) before serving. Doesn't look that appetizing nor flavourful but I was truly blown away by how tasty it was!

In short, great flavour, portion is just right for two to share and so affordable ($25)! IMMA BE BACK!! #Burpproved

P.S. I think their weekday lunch menu serves a one person portion for under $20 (something like $13-15?). 😱
