Black Forest Cake

$12.00 · 20 Reviews

The Signature Black Forest Cake ($16) is probably the most expensive slice of cake I have ever had! The chocolate sponge cake is very moist and soft, the cream is smooth and light and the Kirsh-soaked cherries complements the chocolate without overpowering it. I like that the flavours are balanced and this is not cloyingly, as some chocolate cakes can be. Although I enjoyed this cake thoroughly, this is probably an once-off splurge for me as I am actually not a big fan of chocolate:P Nonetheless, still a pretty impressive Black Forest!

This Black Forest Cherry Cake, named for the signature liqueur of kirschwasser / morello cherry liqueur it uses, stays true to the traditional recipe, and is still among the best versions I've tasted.
.
It has a moist, soft chocolate sponge cake, layered with airy whipped cream, studded with sour cherries infused with kirschwasser / morello cherry liqueur, garnished with maraschino cherries, and chocolate shavings.
.
Taste is chocolatey sweet, sour, sharp, and boozy, all at once, very delightful.

Me and my three other friends chose this cafe for a casual night out. Just before we headed to the place,i read through the reviews online and realized many proclaim they have the best blackforest in town🎉 However, this may be a open secret that makes it out of order when i reached the place.... Anyway, we ordered super platter for S$88.00 ++ with 3 side dishes. Personally i like the combination of sauerkrat (fermented cabbage)and knuckle! It alleviates the greasy feeling while eating knuckle 👍🏻👍🏻
Will definitely go back for it’s black forest cake 😹😹😹

Cherry brandy tiramisu I think? Didn’t like the random crumbs because I thought they would go well but it ended up being kinda soggy on its own. Stick to the black forest cake for a safer dessert choice

Will come back? Yes but not for this dish

The ambiance felt cosy but yet unique with a whimsical touch. Loved the wooden furnishing, warm lights and the cuckoo clock wall.

My date and I shared 2 starters - Truffle Fries ($9), Sausage and Mash ($9) and 1 main - Single Portion Pork Knuckle ($19.80). All the dishes were delicious and of reasonably big portions.

For dessert, we had the Signature Black Forest Cake ($14) and a Lava Cake ($12). Although the cafe is known for its Black Forest Cake, I will be back for the rich and decadent molten chocolate of the Lava Cake.

This place will forever hold a special place in my heart. <3

Those kirsch soaked cherries - drunk in the merry jolly aunt sort of way. Gorgeous.

This fancy German restaurant at the first floor of Rendezvous Hotel gets it right with this beast of a German-style Black Forest Cake ($12) — three layers of incredibly moist chocolate sponge cake held together by silky smooth whipped cream. It is filled with kirsch-soaked cherries and covered in a celebratory confetti of chocolate flakes, making this boozy masterpiece perfect for an alcohol-loving friend, or even your grandpa! The full-sized cake weighs in at 1.5kg and costs a whopping $128.40, so unless you have a big group to feed, we suggest getting a slice or two instead.

Kirsch-soaked cherries indeed!! Bursting with flavour - a must-have dessert! $12.00 per slice is well worth the try.

Rich chocolate cake layers atop cherries drunk on kirsch. Formidable and very German indeed.
