Chop Chop Biryani & Meats (Amoy Street Food Centre)

98 Wishlisted
~$5/pax
A Chindian biryani place offering different varieties of meat cooked in Chinese Indian method served with our own style of biryani rice. The idea came about through a pure random meeting of 2 cuisines, Biryani Rice and Sio Bak in a potluck gathering. It then grew into a business opportunity when there was an Indian stall available at Amoy Street Food Centre. At Chop Chop Biryani & Meats, we aim to define a new Chindian cuisine by marrying the best cuisine of both cultures.

Wanted to try Siew Yoke but was sold out.
So got Pork Masala (12 hours slow braised pork soft bone in tomatoes and spices) and Char Siew (12 hours slow braised pork ribs in hoisin dark soy sauce

For Duo (S$8), it comes with molten egg, pineapple salsa, and pappadumi

The meat were very tender and flavourful

Long grain basmati rice is fragrant, infused w lots of spices tht were visible such as cinammon and star anise. Char siew is sweet, fragrant and tender albeit the ratio of soft bones to meat is a good 1:1. I like that a variety of sides- molten egg, curried chickpeas and cauliflower were given so you wont feel like its too boring eating just rice and meat the whole time. All in all a very satisfying meal for its pricetag. 😌

This set comes with 1 meat and 3 sides. I’ve opt for Char Siew (meat) and the 3 sides (fixed) are masala cauliflower, molten egg and spiced chickpeas. The Char Siew is tender and flavourful but the portion is abit small as compared to the rice.

Super filling even when I have gotten lesser rice.
The char siew is soft, can't feel the bones even!

This stall promotes its 'Siu Yoke Biryani' hence its kind of obvious which meat to choose but they do have a variety of options
Base (Additional Base +$1): Biryani Rice, Sesame Noodle, Garlic Baguette
Meat (Additional Meat +$1.50): Siu Yoke, Salted Egg Chicken, Pork Masala, Char Siew, Tau Kwa Goreng, Sotong
3 Sides (Additional Side +$0.70): Molten Egg, Pineapple Salsa, Spiced Chickpea, Pappadum, Lady's Finger, Cabbage Thoran

Biryani Rice ($5.50)
- Roasted Pork Belly, Molten egg, Lady's finger, Cabbage thoran
- Curry itself was not too spicy, tasted very clean, not the rich creamy kind
- Rice had bits of star anise, was overall very fragrant
- Love the crackling of the pork belly, High meat-to-fat ratio; One of the more lean cuts of pork belly I've tried
- Lady's finger was soft and mushy
- Molten egg had a slightly runny yolk
Definitely an above average briyani without being overly greasy or rich
While the curry was not overly spicy, by the end of the dish, I had beads of sweat forming so you may want to ask them to cut down on the curry if you can't take spice or do not want to sweat.
(Just my personal opinion, I think this stall intentionally makes it dishes healthier by cutting down on the cream they used in their curry and the amount of oil in their dishes to accommodate to the office crowd here because its definitely the 'cleanest' biryani I've had thus far)
Price: 8.5/10 (Very worth it IMO)
Taste: 8/10 (Above average briyani)
Overall: 8.5/10

Worth trying! Had this meal through MealPal but you are able to choose the meat and other toppings individually!
