Unwittingly discovered this lilโ ice cream parlor while walking off dem calories from the Thai place next door! They offer a mouthwatering smorgasbord of millennial-targeted ice cream flavors(e.g.: earl grey lavender, pistachio, speculoos, etc.), all of which are made in house. My final choice was a tie between the Belgium dark chocolate (which was decadently bitter and rich in cocoa) and Mao Shan Wang, but I was eventually swayed by my sister - who reminded me of durian season - to get TWO scoops of the MSW!! ๐ Though I wouldโve liked it with more fibrous durian flesh, the creamy gelato carried the true blue flavor and aroma of durian sufficiently well and didnโt seem artificial in the least. Also, the 2 icy scoops went VERY well with the waffles; made on the spot, the crisp exterior hid a toasty and fluffy interior capable of soaking up all the melted ice cream goodness!!!
My final verdict: though itโs a little out of the way, Iโd say itโs worth the travel as the offerings here are comparable to those served at Creamier! Also, why jostle with the masses for a seat when you can have the whole parlor and an instagrammable backdrop to yourself? ๐ Regardless, this quaint lil parlor has earned itself a loyal customer today!
Shibuya toast was slightly crisp but soft inside. Went well with the ice cream and chocolate sauce.
Popped over here after having Thai food next door, wasn't expecting much but turned out great! I contemplated trying the Chendol or Earl Grey Lavender flavors, but decided for the simpler Hazelnut. A good ice cream option in Toa Payoh with ample seating, give it a shot!
From Baby Moo Creamery at Blk 47 Lorong 6 Toa Payoh, taking over the former spot of The Little Prince Creamery โ serving only waffles and ice-cream with coffee and tea, the interior is decked simply with all the fittings of the previous tenant mostly stripped away. In fact, the current decor is a little reminiscent of Merely Ice-Cream at Sunshine Plaza back in the days, especially with the use of simple stools and pellet tables with white walls and concrete flooring.
Between the two, the D24 Durian was the clear winner โ it's evidently pungent, smooth and creamy; it only seem to lack the fibers of the actual fruit itself but certainly rich and really almost like having the actual durian itself (you know it's good when the D24 Durian flavour is being covered by a lid while the other flavours are left exposed). The Chendol carried hints of Gula Melaka โ it's pretty reminiscent of the actual deal with the light sweetness and Pandan Jelly (which unfortunately turn rather icy from being in the display freezer โ a common problem with this flavour in other places), though the ice-cream felt a tad icy and clumpy in bits; a rather stark contrast from the smooth and luscious D24 Durian.
