Went to Ba Guo Grilled Fish last weekend and ordered their full portion of Mala fish ($32.80?), with add ons such as potatoes, lotus root, enoki mushrooms etc.!😇
Overall ratings 4/10! Fish felt more fried instead of grilled? The mala soup was also added at the end before serving, hence was lacking the depth of flavour😕 Had also ordered a stir fried cabbage which took abt half an hr to be served so was not really pleased with the service... would not head back again🤧
We ordered Spicy Grilled fish. The fish was fleshy, grilled before served with mild spicy sauce and not numbing at all.
I prefer more stronger , but for diners can’t take spicy, this place will be good option.
💰$37 with one rice.

Cheaper alternative to the recently hyped Tan Yu Grilled Fish! Definitely value for money and worth a try. Taste wise was great and not too spicy. The $29.90 option was just enough for 2 hungry people. We paid with Google pay and received $1 cashback 🥳. Our fish also came with 2 free sides of bean sprouts and lettuce!
Mala Grilled Fish - $29.90
Rice - $1 each
Ba Guo Grilled Fish 巴国烤鱼 is a stall selling Sichuan cuisine at Food Republic (Level 5) in 313@somerset. We ordered Chinese Sauerkraut Fish 酸菜鱼 ($14), which arrived in a huge bowl that is more than enough for 2 people. The soup is tangy, spicy and flavourful. The level of spiciness is just nice for me - you can feel the heat but nothing too overpowering to stop you from slurping down the delicious soup. The rich broth contains velvety fish, crunchy pickled mustard green and thick vermicelli, which work really well together. Craving satisfied!
