The porridge is very sticky, can't see individual grains
However, while the porridge itself is acceptably mild, the pork is not brined, making it incredibly underseasoned and really no way to rescue with soy sauce. Not to mention everything except the incredibly tender small intestines were overcooked
At this price, avoid
It's alright, not v strong, and somewhat dry
Unacceptable for this price
The set meal comes with a bowl of fish porridge (containing batang fish), together with youtiao and cabbage + black fungus cooked in Hainanese style. The cabbage was fairly decent but we felt that the youtiao was a bit too soggy. We preferred the crispy youtiao that other porridge stalls in Singapore serve.
Ah Chiang's porridge is of the thicker variety and it is actually pretty clumpy. However, there was not enough seasoning and the porridge was a little bland. Furthermore, the fish used had a pretty fishy taste too so we will not get the fish porridge again if we come back here in future.
With an egg in the porridge, the set meal costs $11, which is very expensive given that this is a casual diner serving porridge that wasn't too fantastic in our opinion.
Took away so somehow it was more seasoned than normal. Ah Chiang is really pricey and while the execution of the pork offal were fine, it didn't deserve this price
💵: $4.80
🤔: They weren't kidding when they said the food is minimally seasoned...
Didn't really like the porridge much as it was pretty bland, and the liver was still pretty bloody which turned my porridge a light pink after some stirring
Had only one small intestine in there though LOL.....
Restaurant quality dish. Nonetheless, again it's barely seasoned. Not to mention the amount of oil. Ginger didn't have any kick. I have to say, despite the execution being quite flawless, you need to understand that it's food for old people/light tastebuds. Else you will be sorely disappointed.
