The 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗟𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝗲𝗲 𝗛𝗼𝗼𝗻 ($𝟭𝟲/𝟯𝟬) is very good as well - the bee hoon soaks up the rich broth that is infused with the umami of the clams and prawns.
My family’s all time favourite is their 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗱 𝗥𝗶𝗰𝗲 ($𝟲.𝟱𝟬/𝟭𝟮/𝟭𝟲) as it is full of wok hei. Each grain of rice is glistening and not too dry or moist - so good!
We ordered a plate of 𝗚𝘆𝗼𝘇𝗮 ($𝟲.𝟴𝟬) and the combination of tasty meat filling wrapped in thin dumpling skin did not disappoint.
𝗡𝗲𝗴𝗶-𝗥𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗻 ($𝟭𝟱.𝟰𝟬) features al dente ramen, tender pork chashu and lots of spring onions in rich pork bone broth that is drizzled in burnt garlic oil. This is packed with flavour and absolutely delicious.
This is a long belated post but throwback to the Signature Lunch Set ($21.90) that I tried at Shou Handmade Dim Sum a while ago.
The set came with 10-Hour Simmered Chicken Broth Pao Fan, House Special Siew Mai, Siew Mai, Har Gao, Baked Barbecue Pork Bun, Pan-Fried Mei Cai Pork Bun, Fried Beancurd Skin with Prawn, Osmanthus Wolfberry Jelly and Yunnan Premium Yi Wu Pu'er Ripe Tea.
The Pao Fan was flavourful and the serving was generous. The various dim sum was generally well executed and the variety and quality is a steal for this price point. I was surprisingly full at the end of the meal - satisfied!
The Seafood Soft Tofu Stew ($18.90) comes with a variety of seafood, silky tofu and egg. This is pretty comforting, though I felt that it could have been a little richer.
The Beef Ugeoji Tang ($19.90) comes with tender beef short plate and slow-simmered napa cabbage leaves in a rich savory soup. This is full of flavour and goes really well with both rice and noodles.
This is my first time trying Fried Porridge ($8.50) and it did not disappoint. The minced meat, yam and lard go really well with the velvety porridge, which is savoury and full of wok hey - this is by far the most sinful bowl of porridge I have ever eaten!
My favourite dessert from Hvala is their Goma Slice Cake ($9.90), which features an airy goma sponge cake layered with goma light cream. The cake is not overly sweet or heavy, and the black sesame aroma really comes through. A perfect afternoon tea treat!
The Spicy Tan Tan Tonkotsu Udon ($12.90) features a rich and savory Tonkotsu broth with spicy sesame paste, minced meat, egg, kelp and udon noodles, drizzled in garlic oil. This is packed with so much flavour and absolutely delicious. Slurped all of this right down to the final drop!
The Pumpkin Risotto ($25) is surprisingly good. The creamy pumpkin risotto goes well with charred brussel sprouts. This is sweet, savoury and delicious!
We also ordered the signature Honghu Lotus Root with Superior Pork Broth ($24.90). This soup was very thick but I felt that it was not as sweet as I expected it to be.
