Pretty nice view overseeing the floating platform, MBS and the business district but the sun can get too warm as it shines through the window when it begins to set.

Their high tea is at $52 per pax for 15 dainty pieces, mix of sweets and savory and a pot of tea. Top up $16 for a glass of cocktail. Since it’s still the month of February, the high tea set is themed around Chinese New Year, pineapple, orange and more chinese flavors. I like how they started the course with an appetizing and appetite whetting Osmanthus granita with wolfberry infusion. Very chinese flavored and refreshing. My favorites is surprisingly their scones, radish cake and mandarin orange marmalade. Their scones are moist and flavorful. But other than that, some of it is a little dry and the flavors are generally not bright. But good company make up for all 😀

A 7 course dinner set, feels like an omakase but at the same time not as the serving speed of the dishes is mostly overlapping just short of serving everything at one go! 😅 But wells got it at a 1-1 deal with burpple beyond at Matsuya Dining along Beach Road!

The course started out light and it get heavier towards the end. My favorites of the set got to be the Oyster which was very plump, creamy and citrusy with the ponzu sauce; followed by the Sashimi Mori, with chutoro, tai and hotate sashimi being the leading choices in the platter. The Gindara miso was also torched to perfection. The cod fish was flaky, sweet and savory.

Their chawamushi is only tasty with the compliments of the Ikura otherwise, it’s like steam egg without stock. On the other hand find it a pity I didn’t get to really enjoy the Wagyu Niniku Rice. There’s a nice garlicky fragrance and aroma but the rice was a tad little too oily and the beef slices is a little overcooked to stomach after 6 courses of dishes.

It seems like they do better with their raw fishes and they do seem to have a group of regulars whom will frequent them! Ambiance wise it’s like an inbetween a tradition sake house and a Japanese restaurant. The staffs were pretty friendly too!

Tried out Squid Game from Free the Robot’s brunch menu. Very intriguing and refreshing option. Grilled squid served with chincalok taste alike sauce, a little spicy, a little tangy bringing out the umaminess. It comes with a buttered thick brioche, fresh greens and a twin sunny side up. A brunch item packed full of flavors!

& if you’re both a matcha and coffee lover, go for their dirty matcha! It’s really good. Their matcha is a blend of different grades of matcha, giving you the all rounded flavors. You taste both the bittersweet matcha and aromatic espresso.

Start your weekend right or end your weekend right!

Yanxi Dimsum & Hotpot is a banquet hall turned restaurant with a dual concept of dim sum and hotpot.

Their dim sums are crafted exquisitely and delicately, and I would say a little different and unique from what you can get outside.

Some of my favorites included the 3.6 Hokkaido Milk Charocal Egg Tart, Mapo tofu in crispy beancurd skin roll, crispy gold dusted black tofu & Quail egg & bonito flakes siew mai.

Special mention about their Hokkaido Milk Egg Tarts which are freshly baked on the spot. It has a warm, creamy, smooth and milky filling which burst right in your mouth as you bite into it. On the other hand their Mapo tofu in crispy beancurd roll is also amazingly good. The mapo tofu has the éș» & the èŸŁ, yet it’s not overwhelming. It has a refreshing kick to it.

Not the most accessible place, and they used to have a lot more dim sum options on their menu previously. But those 2 particular dishes will probably be what I will crave from there if any!

Fancy a quick waffle fix around the farrer park-rochor area? Check out Aphrodite along Desker Road. They have pretty classic favorites like the roasted pistachio and a little more interesting flavors such as blue cheese chocolate and blood orange sorbet. Can’t really taste the blue cheese in the chocolate, perhaps they are really try to play safe as it could be make or break kind of flavor. But could taste the bittersweet of the chocolate. They also have an unnamed flavor whereby if you guess the key ingredients of the flavor correctly, you’re entitled to a free scoop of it.

Their ice creams belongs to the milky and creamier end. Even their blood orange sorbet is unlike the typical sorbet with a refreshing slushie kind of texture but it’s kind of creamy. Will advise to pair a light flavor if you’re getting 2 scoops unless you love gao flavored ice cream.

While for their waffles, it’s a little burnt and on the crispy side of things but less the fluffiness. Enjoy 2 scoops or 2 waffles at the price of 1 with Burpple beyond too.

Zing by Xi Yan serves up a healthy variety of nutrient-packed meals through the use of sustainable produce.

They do have a weekday Zing Power Set Lunch at $18++ which includes an appetizer, signature main and a dessert. We have gotten 1 set lunch and 2 ala carte to share. 2 of the most memorable dishes include the Yum Som O Kung Salad and XO Lo Shi Fan.

Yum Sok O Kung salad is a zingelicious cocktail of pomelo, prawn, sakura ebi, nuts, calamansi and yuzu. A citrusy and appetite whetting starter to start a meal, and the pomelo is surprisingly sweet and juicy. While for the Fried XO Lo Shi Fun, kind of taste like fried XO carrot cake. It is filled with crunchy beansprout, traces of egg crisps and little of the wok hey fragrance.

Overloaded with food during this Chinese New Year? Can go for this alternative of healthy living and wholesome comfort food.

Vegan, sustainability and bar? Do they actually come together? Yes, right at Analogue Initiative! A 3D-printed bar top to tables made from recycled plastic to 100% plant-based menu, a very interesting concept. You kind of feel very cool and calm once you step in, maybe because of the 3D printed big wave alike bar table. 😀

2 of my favorite food for the night are their Jackfruit Tacos and dessert, Pina Clavo. Their jackfruit tacos is flavored in rendang enclaved in crispy taco shell, a little rare sight nowadays. Most places are using soft taco shell instead of crispy ones. But I must say, their rendang flavor is so on point! It’s a little sweet and has a good texture.

Their Pina Clavo consists of a grilled pineapple, fermented chilli, clove ice cream and chickpea tuille. A little exotic but it’s pleasantly good! If you’re adventurous in food, must go for it!

We were welcome with a basket of chewy buns and a glass of champagne. Their cocktails are inspired by historical anecdotes originating from Singapore, Italy, UK & US. Their cocktail menu showcases flavors, ingredients and sensations inspired by the influential hallmarks and cultures. Their staff were all well equipped with the knowledge and could easily share the story behind every drink. I had their Stardust and High Society, pretty interesting concoctions which are smooth on palette. High Society is on the spirit forward side.

Beside drinks, they do have a small variety of food option, cheese, caviar for you to go with the drinks. Go for their braised beef short ribs, which is set to resembles the Chinese kong bak bao, but more elevation and less the oiliness. If you belong to the groups who’s lazy to chew on wings, here’s the chance to try their take on Texas Buffalo Wings. It’s completely de-boned, shaped in cube and served with barbecue sauce. In my opinion, it’s tender, juicy and hassle free! If you need something refreshing, crunchy and colorful, go for their vegetable cruditĂ©s salad. It’s really fresh and help to cleanse your palette inbetween dishes and drinks!

A very pleasant experience there and let them bring you back into times!

Is it all good hawker is located at Block 85? 😅

Jokes outside, I’ve decided to balance out my ventures of food into hawkers and more pocket friendly places. So randomly the first to check out was Redhill Hawker Centre. Sometimes when too spoilt for choice, i will always go for food that can’t be found at the coffeeshops near my house.

So we had Hokkien Prawn Mee from Serangoon Garden Fried Prawn Noodle (#01-51). Depending you’re team wet or team dry, their prawn noodle is towards the wet version, with a nice wok hey and crispy pork lard served at the side. Mix the noodle with the chilli for the extra kick and one thing to mention, if you’re someone who don’t really like the alkaline taste from the yellow noodle, this plate of noodle will be down your alley. It probably has more of the thick beehoon than the yellow noodle. Also serving it up with fresh slices of prawn, sotong, fish cake and pork belly. Another not to miss dish will be the Fried Oyster from Song Le Local Fried Delights stall (#01-56). They have a very good egg and starch mixture fried till a nice golden crisp yet still retaining some chewiness from the starch. Quite a good amount of oysters and some were pretty plump and juicy too.

We also had hard to go wrong BBQ chicken wings from Bedok 511 Chicken Wings (#01-76). It’s nothing outstanding in particular. You get that nice little brown and charred wings but it’s a little on the dry side.

& a bonus drink recommendation, when mixing sugarcane with lime is almost the norm, try mixing sugarcane with starfruit! It’s actually pretty nice!

If you’re up early and looking for a breakfast place around the CBD area, check out Butter Bean. There’s one located at Funan mall along North Bridge road.

Their toast were elevated with some local favorites like Milky Milo, Omu cheese, Flossy chick and more. They also serve savory sandwiches like B.F.F Battered Fried Fish, C.F.C Crispy Fried Chicken. The one I had is the B.F.F Battered Fried Fish which come with the curry sauce. Their curry sauce reminds me of McDonald curry sauce but with a kick. As much as the sandwich looks pretty plain and simple, their toast were well toasted and buttered on the outside, while a bite into it reveals its soft and pillowy texture. Ordered a creme brûlée latte to goes with it. Latte zng-ed up with layer of foam and caramelization at the top.

A speakeasy bar that infuses elements of a traditional mama shop into their shopfront and menu which serves out iconic local favorites with a modern twist.

Their cocktail menu is pretty interesting but unfortunately the actual profile of the drink didn’t actually live up to its expectations. We had Curry Daiquiri paired with Papadum, but couldn’t really taste the curry profile in the drink. So is their Cashew Later, missing the nuttiness in the drink.

Moving on to their food menu, we tried their Herbal Bak Kut Teh Udon, Crab Kueh Pie Tee, Soft Shell Crab Bao and Duck Confit waffle. Some of the worth mentioning dishes include the Crab Kueh Pie Tee topped with tobiko, a little creamy and refreshing and their shell were on point crispy. Their Herbal Bak Kut Teh Udon, is quite a comforting bowl of noodle, has a nice mild herbal taste and would be quite shiok if it was served piping hot. The duck of the duck confit was done pretty well actually. Their skin is pretty crispy and it paired well with the apple purée. But the waffle is pretty lackluster, more towards the soft and soggy.

Overall it’s like a down the memory lane kind of experience and they do change their menu from time to time. Can check out their menu online before heading down!

Most of the people might be very familiar with the famous ba chor mee or mee sua at the corner of south beach road across clarke quay, used to be one of the supper spots option after drinking. But it is also a breakfast option (which is when I went for!)

If you had not know, the OG mee sua stall has actually changed hands a few times. The current one I had is still reasonably good. Their mee pok is springy, good amount of vinegar and pork lard (not that I eat) but good enough when it soaks in the gravy adding extra flavors to it. They are very generous with their noodles and soup ingredients portion. There were good amount of pork slices, fishball, meatball, pork liver, fish paste dumpling and generous amount of minced meat.

All that for about $6-$6.50. It’s a decent enough bowl of noodles to start your day!
