Back in the good ol' days, my parents would bring my brother and I here whenever we were in the area to have our favourite French Toast. My brother and I would try to gobble up our toasts as fast as we could, in attempt to poke our fork into the last piece of toast, just so we could soak it in all the remaining delectable homemade kaya, and sinfully good butter around the plate. Of course, we'd be scolded by our parents, "Why are you eating like you haven't eaten in years?! Slow down the both of you"! The slower one would then whine to mummy, then we'd bicker between ourselves, and eventually get an even bigger earful from our parents on the ride home.

Years later, I'm back here with my brother after hanging out and taking photos around Singapore. We share the same fork-licking-good French Toast, but this time, we do so slowly while chatting about the memories we share of this coffee shop. And when there was one piece left, we asked "do you want the last piece?" at the same time, before bursting into laughter.

Times have changed; Tong Ah is not at the corner shop anymore, and my brother and I have grown older in age and maturity. But some things stay the same — the amazing French Toast, fun memories made with my brother, as well as the sibling love we share. I hope we'll have many more adventures together, over kopi and French Toast for many more years. #hawkerpedia

I loved Crossings ever since I first visited the cafe 2 years ago, and finally managed to come back! Had the baked fish with samba sauce, and man was it good. And all profits from the cafe goes to charity, how awesome is that!

I've always wanted to come to Lola's, and I finally found the chance to. I love the ambience and atmosphere here, and I can totally see myself coming here more often. Especially since I'm way too full from pancakes to try any of the food items, so I'll have to come back again to do so soon :)

You know what that means... Let the cafe hopping begin again!

Starting off with satisfying my pancake cravings. Ahhhhh, I feel good :)

Whenever we eat bingsoo in singapore, my fam still say that Miss Lee cafe is the best. Gotta agree, they're so generous with the fresh fruit, red bean and icecream! And the milkiness of the shavings are on point!
Sigh, I'll be back for you soon Miss Lee and Korea. But for now, back to my books :(

Back in my primary and secondary school days, I'd look forward to the term holidays like any other kid. Not just because I could finally kick back and not have to worry about homework (for at least the first few days or weeks until I started to panic from the impending reopening of school gates), but also because I could get up a bit later to eat breakfast with my late grandma, whom I would call "mama". She would always ask me the night before what I wanted to eat for breakfast the next day, before reciting a whole list of items I could choose from, like cai dau kueh (carrot cake) or char siew pau (steamed pork bun). But I'd always choose my favourite — mi ciam kueh (pancake with peanut or red bean filling). I just loved the dense pancake, slathered with silky smooth red bean paste or crunchy peanuts in between. The next morning, she would walk all the way to the market just to buy what we wanted to eat, despite her having a difficult time walking, just so we'd be able to eat our favourite dishes from the market at our breakfast table together.

I never got to tell her this, but whatever food we had for breakfast didn't matter; what mattered to me was being able to eat with her by my side. Now whenever my mom buys back some mi ciam kueh, it always brings back good memories of stories and laughs we had at the breakfast table with mama. Mi ciam kueh always tasted sweeter when she was around, and I'm always thankful for the sweet memories I had with her. #Hawkerpedia

And need some caffeine. And I need some now.

Cause I'm almost on the verge of crashing from trying to cram all these notes into my brain. Sigh, one more week. What's keeping me motivated is being able to start hopping around to cafes I've been wanting to explore again after these next 7 days! Let's go!!

I knew I had to give it a go, and man, no regrets deciding to do so!

It was so good that I just had to try the other items on the menu today. I got the Lemongrass Beef Rice set (though I'm not sure why my beef ended up becoming chicken), which came with a mango salad at the side, and a Tom yum soup. All I can say is that it cannot get any more authentic then this. And so reasonably priced too :) It was good while it lasted. Time to hit the books again, sigh.

At 10pm. Help.

Take me back to the long weekend when I could enjoy jap food over a lovely view of orchard road without having to worry about studying.

The skin was oh so crispy, and had a layer of silky smooth red bean on it. Cut deeper in, and you'll find a pool of deliciously good liqueur (we could've sworn it was bailey's) with a rich and chocolately taste to it. My oh my, everything came together so beautifully well, and I can still remember the taste of it now.

It may Look small, but it definitely packs such a punch of textures and incredible flavours. Kinda like Singapore :)
