Back in the good ol' days, my parents would bring my brother and I here whenever we were in the area to have our favourite French Toast. My brother and I would try to gobble up our toasts as fast as we could, in attempt to poke our fork into the last piece of toast, just so we could soak it in all the remaining delectable homemade kaya, and sinfully good butter around the plate. Of course, we'd be scolded by our parents, "Why are you eating like you haven't eaten in years?! Slow down the both of you"! The slower one would then whine to mummy, then we'd bicker between ourselves, and eventually get an even bigger earful from our parents on the ride home.

Years later, I'm back here with my brother after hanging out and taking photos around Singapore. We share the same fork-licking-good French Toast, but this time, we do so slowly while chatting about the memories we share of this coffee shop. And when there was one piece left, we asked "do you want the last piece?" at the same time, before bursting into laughter.

Times have changed; Tong Ah is not at the corner shop anymore, and my brother and I have grown older in age and maturity. But some things stay the same — the amazing French Toast, fun memories made with my brother, as well as the sibling love we share. I hope we'll have many more adventures together, over kopi and French Toast for many more years. #hawkerpedia
