You can also find a variety of tempura and rice balls to select from via self-service.

The Beef Udon ($10.80) is a simple dish that honestly can't really go wrong; strips of tender sliced beef with thick wheat noodles in a warm broth, topped with a flowy onsen egg result in a recipe for a quick and satisfying meal. 😋

Although already rather reasonably priced, I managed to get a 1-for-1 deal thanks to @entertainersg! 👍🏻

The pan-seared Salmon Fillet ($19.80), a dish that hails from Norway, finely paired with butter sautéed potato cubes, basil onion cream sauce, sautéed asparagus and shimeji mushrooms, along with a side baby radish. I have to say, I really enjoyed each and every element on its own but bringing some or all of them together really completes the overall taste for me! While I can't exactly critique salmon fairly because, well, I hardly ever like it, the one served at Runway80 is definitely fresh enough for me to progress beyond a second bite, tearing apart easily with each forkful. If anything, this is a genuine and shocking (proud) first for me. In attempt to try and convince you on how good this is, the entire table generally loved this, so why not be the judge and have a taste for yourself! 😆

Opened by Mr Lorbak himself is House of Happiness, which is definitely not your average claypot rice eatery once you've tried what's on the menu; the brains behind the place have deviced a method to cook claypot rice in a significantly shorter span of time, as well as applying a par-boiling technique for a healthier dining experience.

The 16-hour Slow Cooked Teriyaki Pork Jowl ($7) was pretty amazing; super tender, fatty strips of meat that have been sous vide and subsequently pan seared with teriyaki sauce marination. Through an intricately timed process, the rice is really tasty along with the charred rice on the edge! Don't forget to add some in-house sauce: red bean-based dark sauce infused with Shaoxing wine and garlic - soooo good. 😋

The Mont Blanc ($9) might appear to be really simple and unassuming, but beneath the chestnut cream is fresh cream blanketed over a vanilla sponge and blueberry compote while the frangipane tart contains fresh blueberries.

Perhaps considered to be the crowd favourite, the chestnut is no doubt prominent, with the blueberry elements providing the dessert with some sourness for an overall balanced and pleasing taste. 😋

Where the Brown Sugar Fresh Milk (700ml $4.80) lacks is in the taste of the brown sugar; the milk is evidently the stronger component of the drink after mixing. That said, the pearls manage to keep me sipping on with their lovely soft and chewy texture as well as prominent brown sugar flavour and sweetness. 😋

At Bober, the menu extends beyond your typical bubble tea options, including creative infusions and fruit teas. I had the Matcha Strawberry Latte (500ml $4.90) which surprisingly infuses quite nicely; love the strawberry milk although it overpowers the matcha which in turn reduces the sweetness, producing a very mild bitter-ish aftertaste. I personally thought this is fine, but matcha evangelists should be on high alert when considering this.

For a non-milk option, I tried the Supreme Fruit Burst Red Tea (1000ml $7.20) which is ideal for our hot weather and perhaps a healthier option to consider; the use of fresh fruits not only provides some refreshingness, but the inclusion of real strawberries, watermelon, passionfruit seeds and so on makes this quite a healthy snack as well.

The Soufflé Pancakes with Strawberry Preserve ($6) definitely do not appear to be of the biggest portions, but visually they look rather promising!

While the exterior was slightly dry, I love the fluffy, soft interior that has a sweet yet light sort of taste, kind of like a toasted marshmallow, without any trace of egginess, making it already rather enjoyable on its own. 😋 The strawberry preserve is mostly sour in flavour but in a non-artificial way, matching nicely with the pancakes.

If you want a drink to go with your pancakes, I'd recommend the Earl Grey Chocolate ($7) which has prominent notes of earl grey that somehow does not get overpowered by the decadent bitter chocolate. 👍🏻

Constantly thinking about this mad delicious Slow Cooked Pork Soft Bone ($14.50) that I had previously at @dailyaffairscafe. Essentially a rice dish, it comes with pickled radish, chives and onsen egg with a side of mustard.

The glistening pork comes in relatively sizeable portions and is really tender, and free from any porky stench or gaminess all thanks to the slow cooking process, featuring mouth-watering properties such as melt-in-your-mouth fat and gelatinous soft bones that go easy on the teeth. The rice is blanketed beneath the pork, absorbing some flavour from the sauce of the meat, while the pickled radish works out to give a refreshing bite and cleanse the palate. Along with the 'Orh Lu Lu' pasta, I'd gladly return for this in future. 😋

This is part of a tasting at @dailyaffairscafe.

Starting at $8 for 6 pieces, have a feast over these crisp, golden babies with friends and family, and savour up all that the prawn paste shiok-ness, along with some of their other dishes - think braised beef brisket noodles, nasi lemak, Teochew porridge and more; you'll surely be spoilt for choice here! 😁

These are part of a tasting at @dahaishan. 🙏🏻

Fall for autumn vibes with Mad About Sucre's current seasonal desserts; the Chataigne ($24.80+ with tea pairing) is a French chestnut mousse with elements of rum and blood orange infused within the dessert.

Notes of alcoholic and citrus carry through the rich chestnut body prominently yet proportionately, thus enriching the overall taste and experience of the cake rather than overwhelming the chestnut. Frankly speaking, I might have possibly overlooked this at first glance, but with just one taste, I fell head over heels for this simplistic and stellar piece of work. ❤️

Using a fresh and succulent Sri Lankan crab, crab lovers should give this Kepiting Sauce Padang ($55.88++) a try! Be prepared to get your hands dirty, though it just might be worth the mess and effort. 😉

This is part of a meal hosted by a @kota88restaurant and @brandcellar.

That said, this JUST Egg Sandwich ($18++), which is part of Grand Hyatt's commiment towards sustainability, green living and vegan friendliness, manages to work in favour of my tastebuds. Essentially a mung bean patty with tomato jam, avocado purée, vegan cheese and alfafa sprouts sandwiched between corn buns, I really was expecting not to like it (mainly coz alfafa) but hey, this definitely took me by surprise based on how much I actually enjoyed this! While the mung bean patty hardly resembles a meat patty (to me), it does not have a very strong flavour and thus goes harmoniously with the other components in terms of overall taste.

In summary, if you are keen on trying vegan food for the first time, this might be a good introductory item for you. I can't judge how good this is as a vegan dish, but it definitely did leave me rather impressed. 👍🏻 Thank you @grandhyattsing for the burger and experience, and @gnohznaij for the invite! 🙏🏻

I opted for the Twister ($5.90) which allows you to mix two (or stick with one) bases, be it froyo, softserves or even smoothies - yes indeed, they don't just do yoghurt here - and settled for the Ivory Ice Cream, followed by Dutch cookie crumbs, and Matcha Froyo topped with blueberry and acai berry sauce as well as white chocolate sauce. Sounds like diabetes in a cup but the I found the matcha to be the perfect balancing factor to the dessert, thus matching well with sweet toppings and preventing my Twister from getting too cloying. While I LOVE white chocolate and am pretty much confident that it pairs well with matcha, the blueberry and acai berry sauce was what suited the matcha froyo more, and for that, I've never been happier about a spontaneous froyo topping choice. 😂 Addituonally, I really like the Ivory ice-cream which is supposedly vanilla but has a bit of a milky taste to it.

The Matcha Froyo is currently only available at Smöoy JEM and OUE.

Thank you @smooy.sg for the dessert and @mysweetlittletooth for the invite! 🙏🏻
