Food was not too bad, but small servings. Fairly accessible location, entrance located on the outside of the mall, right opposite Lorong Chuan MRT.

Ju Pu: Chrysanthemum and Pu Erh was a really nice combination - not too sweet, yet fragrant - and apparently a healthier option. I liked the creamy sticky texture of the ice cream even though it was slightly melted when served to us.

Guava with Sour Prune Sorbet: Sweet, sour and refreshing - perfect for a hot day. I like trying interesting flavours, so this was a nice change.

Overall - ice cream was great, but it’s really pricey because there’s GST and service charge on top of it all. And there were also 2 dead cockroaches at the sides of the shop which were a lil off putting. I may come back if I’m around the area but only if I’m planning to use the Burpple Beyond deal.

Couldn’t resist trying this interesting sounding tart out! The main filling - Republica del Cacao 33% blended with Andean corn - somehow reminded me of delicious caramilk chocolate, but creamy. Didn’t really taste the corn in it though. I also absolutely adored the chewy orange marmalade jelly in the middle, which was a refreshing pairing with white chocolate.

The tart is very tiny though - it’s smaller than my palm, which says quite a bit because my palm is not that big to begin with. I think it’s a pretty tasty tart overall, but pricey for its size. I guess my review of this tart is similar to my review of the drinks here.

We visited here on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn’t too crowded. Quite a nice casual place to chill with friends.

Chai was legit, the spice was substantial and not overpowered by the milk. A good cup of chai latte - just rather pricey, especially for the size of the cup. You could probably get cheaper chai lattes elsewhere with similar standards. One good thing is that they don’t charge extra for iced!

Please note: This is NOT a 1-for-1 deal, the deal is misleading! The staff told me that it is only $13 off, as they referred to the estimated savings stated as $13 on the deals page - even though it clearly states with the 1-for-1 deal. When I tried to redirect them to the “1-for-1” phrase, they then said that only the lowest price item will be free - on the receipt they actually split the $17 dish into $13+$4.

I’ve redeemed hundreds of Burpple deals but have never encountered any merchant referring to that line.

I actually ordered two $17 dishes but they only deducted $13. Would be clearer if they renamed their deal to “$13 off” instead, or a fineprint somewhere that it is “up to $13 off”. This deal would only effectively be 1-for-1 if you ordered the congee, which is $13.

Food was otherwise alright, definitely very pricey for the small amounts served but I guess we are at an airport after all.

A local favourite - Hokkien Mee, with prawns, squid, and roast pork. Clean and healthy tasting, yet still retaining a very flavourful profile - the prawn broth really shone through in this one. Ingredients were generous and fresh, and overall the dish was fragrant and delicious despite not having that “burnt” taste (which some people associate with wokhei) that some would seek - the chef shared that he wanted to avoid that to create a clean dish. Definitely an interesting take on our familiar street food dish, which the chef skilfully put his own spin on.

This is a place to consider if you’re looking for some local dishes - but want the food to be more “atas” and “clean”. You can also enjoy the more premium local food in a cozy air-conditioned cafe setting, in which decor is also slightly reminiscent of the old days.

Pork was flavourful and braised till very tender - really enjoyed its mouthfeel. It’s served with sauerkraut, shiitake mushroom, vegetables, braised lava egg and tau kwa, over a bowl of rice.

This is a place to consider if you’re looking for some local dishes - but want the food to be more “atas” and “clean”. You can also enjoy the more premium local food in a cozy air-conditioned cafe setting, in which decor is also slightly reminiscent of the old days.

Sorry I was too hungry and started eating before I took this photo :P Actually not too bad a bowl of Tom Yum noodles - soup was savoury and a little spicy, and the noodles were chewy. They were quite generous with the seafood, there were a few chunks of fish and also 3 prawns.

We also got the Gula Melaka Milk Tea with Pearls ($4.80), which was pretty average, some pearls were a bit hard on the inside.

Overall not too bad, wouldn’t pay full price for this but it’s alright with the 1-for-1 Burpple deal. They are very flexible with the options applicable for the Burpple deal - the staff literally told me “everything also can”, which is a great plus point!

We visited on a weekday night and it wasn’t too busy, didn’t have to wait too long to get our food either.

Toast was very crispy and crunchy. I thought the ice cream provided would be coconut ice cream but it tasted more like vanilla ice cream, though there was a generous amount of dried coconut shavings all around the dessert.

I loved the super creamy texture! If you’re a fan of cookies and cream, you’ll enjoy this flavour. The milkshake was not one bit icy at all - from the start till end it was just purely creamy, with the taste of cookies and cream. Yes I would order it again!

The restaurant’s signature pork belly simmered in an aromatic tamarind stew, served with tau kwa and chillies. A very flavourful dish with the spices really shining through. The pork belly was super fatty (more fats than meat honestly, and whether that is a good or bad thing is up to you), it literally melts in your mouth.

Burpple Beyond also has a set meal deal here - we didn’t use it this time as we decided to order ala carte.

If you ignore the fact that it’s supposed to be chap chye, it actually tastes quite nice and fragrant - like an ordinary vegetable dish braised in mushroom stock. However seeing that it’s named chap chye, I felt that it was lacking in the bean paste taste, that would’ve really made it much more flavourful. It’s still nice though, regardless.
