Getting to this secluded zi char spot is mission impossible without a car, but it's well worth the trip. Housed in the old Picket & Rail building along Mandai Road, Cafe 566 is a spacious air-conditioned joint that dishes out quality dishes at affordable prices. There are plenty of seats and parking is free, making this an ideal location for last-minute gatherings with the extended family. Rather amusingly, Cafe 566 retains the old decor of a jungle-themed cafe, so don't be surprised to see old animal statues like gorillas, tortoises and even giraffes. Order a Chilli Crab ($43 per crab) to share and a side of freshly fried Mantous ($0.60 each, minimum order of five) to mop up all that luscious gravy! Apart from the crab, get the umami-rich Deep-fried Sotong with Salted Egg (from $12), the crowd favourite Four Treasure Vegetables (from $10) and the perfectly crisp Marmite Chicken (from $12) to share!
Avg Price: $15 per person

The Eggs Ben was better than expected, though the cafe experience was spoilt because the place was just too noisy. There were only 2-3 tables filled? But people were speaking at the top of the voices. Moved to an outdoor seating, quieter, peaceful, and watched people walking dogs.

Café despite it's pricing is on the higher side. This one got very nice & comfortable chairs. But the food arent as good as that at Harding.

Amazingly tender melt-in-your mouth pork belly perfectly complemented by poached egg, a mild whole grain mustard sauce and creamy mash potato. Perfect comfort food I would definitely order again.

It's been awhile I last went to Spathe for brunch, and the return journey has been satisfying. They serve a weekend brunch menu and I particularly enjoyed the garlic fries that accompanies this dish. Spathe is a good option for brunch in the Robertson quay neighborhood!

belgian waffle with fried chicken in texan spiced sauce but please don't stop there, cause real man eat waffle with crispy bacon. hurrah!

So many places offering this now but this was my first ☝️(which I realise was actually 2 years ago.......)

This was my second visit to Spathe Public House and it has not disappointed. The chicken and waffles are on point 💯, so was the beef sandwich. I ordered the tipsy beer chicken (singapore sling flavour - tiger beer, $55 for whole chicken) on my second visit, and trust me, it's worth every bit of the 30 min wait. The chicken is not too oily or fat and is super tasty and tender! Will be back again for this dish!
