Lunch time! Waltzed around timbre+ before deciding on this stall with the shortest queue - cuz well, awkward to keep colleagues waiting. So hey, another chance to try another item, and boy was I rewarded!

Pleasantly surprised that I could add steam egg to my rice - and its the super soft and smooth, no minced meat kind which I love! - and it goes really well with the soup too. The soup was decently good as well, not too oily with generous amounts of vegs and meat. Will definitely be back to try the steamed peanuts or preserved vegetables, or even the yam rice. A tasty healthy meal overall, yum!

Returned to Utown for a gathering with my college friends one evening, and selected this restaurant for the occasion. Despite spending huge amounts of time in Utown during these days, cash-strapped us barely ate at this restaurant then.

This restaurant was good with its wide variety of pasta dishes. For this particular dish, salmon was stuffed within each packet of pasta, in a rich cream sauce. There was also a generous amounts of shrimp. Service was also great, at a reasonable price. Good spot for gatherings!

Wandering around for Kolo Mee,
Jia Xiang is for sure the best we see.
Fragrant chilli scooped from a jar,
Not sure if anywhere else is quite on par.
Noodles, char siew, and minced meat too,
Eating till we are happy and full.

A decent place to catch korean food in the one north area. The GalBiTang was surpringly flavorful, and had a generous amount of beef in it. The BiBimBap was also generous with the serving.

Overall, I think the service is really what will draw me back to this place - a comfortable air conditioned non-crowded environment, food served quickly, and refillable side dishes.

Our attention was drawn to the "Michelin Guide Tokyo 2015" article on the front door - turns out one of their stalls in Japan was featured in that Michelin Guide! Curious us decided to venture in despite it seeming rather empty.

And boy, were we glad we did so! We were first served free flow salad, super crunchy and fresh, and tasted great with the sesame dressing. The chicken fillet was tender, and a light batter made it crispy but not too oily. The mentaiko sauce was really strong, and went well with the fillet. Enjoyed the meal, and will be back on a Monday - Thursday to get the lunch set!

Saw so many tempting pictures from this stall that we couldn't help but jump on the bandwagon and try it ourselves one evening! Well, seems like many people had the same thought too. So even though it's already 8pm, we still waited for about 30min before we got our seats and started eating.

The noodles were a bit too starchy for my preference, but I know people who enjoy this taste. Nevertheless, i still enjoyed all the side dishes, fried chicken, cha shu, pork, egg - were all really good!

A few of us girls knew that one north area must have something more to offer than timbre+ or cold storage salad. Hence, we decided to venture into biopolis to hunt for lunch.

Found this quaint little cafe under an office building offering a variety of local delights and western staple. Ikan bilis were crispy, egg yolk was runny, rice and wing were good too. Think overall I loved the ambience, great place to chill and catchup when in one-north!

Found this when we were on the look out for affordable, interesting food after our run at the stadium (great track btw - its sheltered too!).

A simple no frills meal. Hainanese curry soaking the rice, egg with a runny yolk, soft cabbage, and a decent fried chicken cutlet/fish. Decent quick meal overall.

The lunch-time regulars at timbre+ will be sure to know this stall. Though I often get the soup version of ban mian, I will order the dry version at this stall. Super love the egg mixed in with the noodles, crispy anchovies, and amazing dark sauce/oil! Cheat code: I always ask for the dark red chilli, and the uncle is always more than happy to share his great creation - yumz!

There is always a long long queue for this stall. It was only when I joined some colleagues for lunch one day - and realised one of them would regularly spend 15min or so in the line for this plate of noodles - that I finally had the opportunity/determination to get a taste of this. Of course I went with her off-menu recommendation: beef brisket tomato noodles.

Beef brisket was tender and flavourful, totally believe that 15 different types of spices were involved in the making of this brisket. The noodles were cooked just right too, neither too hard or soft. I was also told that the tomato noodles had a stronger taste than the spinach noodles. Also liked the vegetables served! Good choice overall, curious to try the dumplings next!

Brought my international friends here to taste the chilli crab. But first, a short adventure in trying to find this restaurant located at the top of a multistorey carpark.

The prawns were served de-shelled with salted egg sauce (with bits of salted egg in it!) and topped with crispy floss. The kangkong was really good as well - thumbs up for the sambal. Finally, the chilli crab was served; fresh, with the sweet and egg-y chilli sauce, awesome with the fried mantous! & I had fun watching my International friends have fun struggling with extracting the meat from the crab hahah.

The aburi is always a must-have, and I like that there are 8 small pieces instead of 4 pieces of the normal size - great for sharing! Wafu spaghetti, thin spaghetti with a strong mentaiko sauce. The soup is rather savoury, with a generous amount of salmon - albeit patience is needed to separate the bones from the fish. Since the selections this time were all quite heavy, will advise a mix of lighter items as well (salmon don perhaps?). Always appreciate the casual quality food served here.
