Went Dan’s Steaks - Bar & Grill for dinner before “No Dine-in” got imposed by Gov due increased Covid cases. Had the medium rare 300g Grass-Fed Ribeye Steak, paired with pan roasted mushroom. Delicious complimentary Korean Banchan made in-house, were served to snack on while waiting.

Grass-Fed Ribeye Steak was cooked beautifully, flavourful and melts in mouth. Grass-fed meat usually tend to be tougher but this was cooked gently using sous vide method, so it’s juicier and tender. Pan roasted mushrooms sautéed in garlic, balsamic and white wine, adds lotsa umami to the steak.

My experience at Dan’s Steaks was nothing short of amazing. Staffs were sincere, friendly and helpful, making dining experience rather personalised, like a cosy dinner at an old friend’s place. Will return again

Other than 49Seats's Tom Yum Seafood Pasta, I also tried their Fish and Chip with Alscampi Sauce ($16.90, excluding GST). Tried to google Alscampi 'cause I’ve only ever heard of Scampi not Alscampi. But ok the main thing is that it’s a crustacean sauce. White cream sauce with seafood. Here’s the thing, it is also salty!! Why! The chef cannot taste? Maybe it is me, maybe cause I prefer natural favours. Fish was fresh, thicc and quite well fried though. Dish came with 2 side dishes of our choice. I got fries and garden salad. Fries was already cold and starting to taste meh, dunking it in ketchup didn’t help but that’s fine. The most welcomed part of the dish is the garden salad. Though there’s no service charge, service staffs were quite attentive. Overall 6/10

Heard of this place and decided to give it a shot. Ordered pork ribs big prawns noodle at $7. There wasn’t much people around (unlike the place opposite) so food queue was fast.
2 ribs and 2 prawns. The ribs were hard and chewy, I think the ntuc frozen ones are better really. Soup is very normal, nothing special and overrated. Can try if you’re around the area but don’t need to purposely come down. PS: If you driving can park along the perimeter of the area else can park at The Venue.

Heard of this place and decided to give it a shot. Ordered intestines big prawn noodle at $7. There wasn’t much people around (unlike the coffee shop opposite them) so food queue was fast. In my order I had 4 pieces of intestine and 2 prawn. A bit sad for the price paid. Intestine was ok.. prawn was quite nice. Overall dish is ok. Soup is very normal, nothing special and overrated, can find better and cheaper prawn noodles elsewhere. Can try if you’re around the area but don’t need to purposely come down.

Wow wow wow. Ok first off I’m not a huge fan of yogurty drink cause when you’re thirsty on a hot day you really want quenching stuff right. But I was wrong. Ordered Yumiko yogurt with purple rice, large size. There was a 20% discount for all yogurt drink which is like for every drink? Lol. But alright good for me. Paid $4.40 after discount which is decent price.
So when you drink right, it’s like super quenching, like not too sweet not sour. Then the purple rice has a very nice bite to it, so much better than pearls. Love it . It was an unexpected discovery but a fantastic one at that. Highly recommended!

Came here on Sunday, didn’t enjoy off peak hours discount. So if you intend to save some money don’t come on Sunday. Had the Tom yum seafood pasta ($14.90, excluding GST). It was.. salty. Very salty. I feel like my hair will all drop if I finish all the sauce. When I mention to staffs they were nice enough to give me some carbonara sauce to dilute it. But end up still salty (considering that I am already quite a zhong kou wei person). For the price it is ok considering it is in town. But will I come back again? No.

Other than Marche, I actually havent really seen anywhere else selling Rosti, let alone Rosti in a Coffeeshop setting. So apparently there's this western delight stall hidden in Woodlands- Ivan's Carbina, selling delicious, wallet-friendly Rosti! For people who don't live up North, you might take some time searching for this busy coffeeshop hidden among the HDBs.

At Ivan's Carbina, lots of choices are available on their Menu, but I eventually ordered Rosti with Chicken Chop in Mushroom sauce, and Fried Chicken Cutlet with Rosti, both dishes approx $8 each.

The portion of Rosti is quite large. You can have your Rosti in different ways. There’s Rosti + Sausage set with egg (Option of Cheese Sausage, Garlic Sausage or Snail Pork Sausage). Or if you are a bigger eater, you can choose Rosti + Main Dish, which comes with a choice of Mushroom Chicken, or Chicken Cutlet etc.

Love the crisp potato shreds at the top layer, while soft and tender at the bottom. You can always request for how crisped you like your Rosti to be. The warm Rosti wasn't overly seasoned which is great because it's paired with cold creamy tangy sour cream on the side, which was a nice contrast. Chicken Chop was tender and nicely charred, complements well with the mushroom sauce. On the other hand, their Fried Chicken Cutlet is like our delicious old fashion western food. Tender juicy chicken within that pleasantly crisped breaded exterior.

Over all, the food had no wow factor but tasted pretty decent, value for money and generous portion. Wouldn't mind visiting again if I happen to be around Woodlands and craving for some Western food.

There's quite a few restaurants selling Souffle pancakes at Plaza Singapura. I end up decided to go with Typhoon Taiwanese Cafe, as they claimed that their pancakes are certified fluffiest in town.

Ordered their SoufflĂŠ Stackers with Strawberry, Almond Biscuit & Strawberry-Cheese Sauce ($17.90). I would say the warm pancakes had good volume and fluffy but smell and tasted overly eggy, and on the slightly wet sticky side. Pancakes were also kind of on the sweeter side.

Menu photo and description says it's paired with Almond Biscuit, but turned out to be different from Menu, it's more like biscuit crumbs 😅. Strawberry Cheese Sauce tasted just like normal cream sauce. Can't really taste any cheese flavour but it's ok lah still goes well with pancake and I like cream anyway. Ice cream was ok and pretty normal. The best thing about this dessert was the fresh strawberries! Complement well with the sweetness of the dessert and made it less jelak.

Might not come to this cafe again just for their SoufflĂŠ pancake. Over priced and no wow factor. Haven't try anything else on their Menu. Would be interested to know whether their Taiwanese Mee Sua, Lu Rou Fan and Golden Chicken Fritter tasted authentic like the ones I love in Taiwan.

First time trying ramen at Kanshoku Ramen Bar.
Dining experience was not bad, server was quick, friendly and attentive. Kanshoku specialised in dry truffle ramen, which was first in Singapore, and also crowd's favourite, so I ordered their Dry Truffle Ramen and also their soup version which is the Signature Tonkotsu ramen.

When the dry truffle ramen ($16.90) was served to me, it was very aromatic, intense truffle oil fragrance lingering though the air! The truffle oil infused noodles were topped with ChaShu, onsen egg, shio kombu (salted kelp) and truffle shavings. Chashu had good balance of the meat and fatty ratio, were well marinated, well seared and blow torched. Umami, delicious and melt in the mouth.

Noodles are Hakata style, nice thin ramen noodles just like the angel hair pasta, had a nice good bite but for the dry truffle ramen, ramens were slightly on the drier side and sticking together. If you enjoy a denser eggy flavoured noodles, you can break the onsen egg, mix and let the gooey egg yolk coat the strands of noodles evenly. It depends on individual, some might think that by doing this will be abit overpowering and covers the truffle taste. I only break half to mix and test it out. Preferred eating the onsen egg on its own.

On the other hand for the signature Tonkotsu ramen ($13.90), their broth was boiled for over 8 hours with no added MSG and preservatives. Pretty decent broth flavour, while ingredients were quite straight forward. Overall quite an expected taste, not too much of wow factor.

Say YES to Foie Gras and Wagyu beef for Mookata!
168 Mookata, located at 43 Cambridge Road, is a newly opened Mookata in Singapore, run by a former chef from Flutes at National Museum Singapore. They offer really generous portion and quality Mookata ingredients at affordable prices.

Their Mookata was served with homemade chicken broth which was great to enjoy without feeling thirsty. I had their Jumbo Meat Platter which comes with 1kg worth of variety of meat, plenty of sides and vegetables, for ONLY $39.90. This platter is suitable for 4 to 5 pax, so each person will only pay $10 or less?!

Note: They also serves smaller portion platter (670g meat), so suitable for you to come by with your date or girlie friend to enjoy too. If you fon't fancy platters, you can go Ala Carte. Their extensive ingredients are really affordable as well.

Meats are freshly marinated daily, prepared upon order. They serve 2 types of sauce dip for our juicy grilled meat: Signature Thai dipping sauce, Assam and Chilli sauce.🤤 Apart from pork, chicken and sliced beef, 168 Mookata also serves tender, richly marbled Wagyu Striploin and Wagyu Ribeye. Mjouth-watering robust flavour. GOTTA ALSO TRY their Premium Foie Gras, ONLY $5.90 per piece. I thought it'll be a thin small piece since it's Premium ingredient, but it's THICK. What a steal and so far really can't find any other Mookata places serving Foie Gras! No gamey taste but really fragrant and creamy. Strongly recommend if you love Foie Gras! Go up your Mookata game! Over all, good service, food and peaceful environment among the HDBs.

Hands down to my favourite bubble tea till date!
ChiCha San Chen's tea is brew to order. Quality tea, very aromatic and flavourful. Pearls are cooked soft and chewy, very addictive!

I ordered their Dong Ding Oolong Tea (50% sugar), which achieved the Highest International Authority iTQi certification (International Taste & Quality Institute) in 2017. This award is like equivalent to a Michelin 3 stars! Wow! 😍 This is one of the strongest tea flavour I have tasted for a bubble tea, very fragrant and ain't overpowering by the milk. I liked their overall rustic environmentally friendly packaging, using paper sleeves instead of those plastic sleeves, holding the bubble tea cup and straw with a twine string. Very thoughtful of them. Can't wait for my next visit to try their other tea selections!

Went Kreams Beer to chill out. Nice cosy bar which is well decorated with cherry blossom decos, lamps, little ornaments and plushies. The menu has wide selections of beers and light bites. Crackers and fruits are free flow for all tables too!

Just by looking at their fruity based beer section on the menu had me spoilt for choices! They have like watermelon, lychee, graprefruit, yuzu and many more! We ordered the grapefruit infused beer and a Queen's Honey (lager + honey). Both beers are smooth and light on the palate. I enjoyed my grapefruit infused beer, which was citrusy with a hint of sweetness. If you are not sure what to drink, but like something fruity, go for their grapefruit infused, it's a popular choice which usually won't go wrong.

Overall great friendly service and nice ambience, suitable bar for chilling out with friends, date nights or girlie night out. Worth a visit, will come back again! 🍻
