My latte was born of the quirkily/naughtily named "Chocolate Starfish" (go google it), a 50/50 blend of beans from Costa Rica and Papau New Guinea. It was sultry and smoky and everything your mother warned you about ;)
But seriously, Pav, the friendly owner of this new-ish cafe used to be a co-owner of Sarnies at Telok Ayer. So when it comes to coffee, I think it's safe to say you're in very good hands.
The heisenburger came recommended and was served within minutes with a knife stuck into the centre of the burger. Points for presentation and looks but the burger patty unfortunately didn't work out for me. It fell into a crumbly mess with every cut/ bite. The sweet potato fries were a welcome surprise. :) the chicken roulade had a stuffing that wasn't cooked through enough and could do with a little bit more seasoning. It's definitely a healthier choice on the menu though!
Unique up-cycled furniture, mismatched chairs, wooden tables and one-of-a-kind standing lamps give newly opened Aeiou nothing but character. Currently in their soft launch phase and set to officially open on 11 Jan, don't let the lack of a full menu deter you from checking this cafe out pronto. With adorably quaint furniture and an unbelievably laid-back vibe, this is one perfect place to stop by for an iced avocado coffee or simple black brew served in a repurposed vodka bottle. Novelty right there,
Yummy chocolate tart that oozes upon biting. But a tad overpriced if you ask me
Killing 2 birds with 1 stone when I wanted coffee and ice cream. So I opted for espresso ice cream! The coffee taste was not too strong, just enough to tell that it's a coffee ice cream. Waffles was thick and fluffy. Normal I guess. Light and crispy, not the yeasty kind
Yummy pies with faces on them for the different flavours.
Soft fluffy pancakes served with soft serve ice cream, apple and granola. Was it worth the 20 min wait? Not really
Soft pancakes that are well accompanied by the salted caramel and ice cream. Salted caramel was a blend of sweet and salty
Cake was light and moist. Definitely something you can finish on your own. Cream cheese was not sweet and had the zesty taste. Yum!
Humble looking banana pie at $2.50 each. It was a good mix of crunchy from the chopped nuts that were in the pie and sprinkled on the crust and sweetness from the banana. Would be good if nuts and banana were evenly distributed. But it's all good. Still yummy! Made fresh everyday. Will be back for more
It was not as nice as I remembered. I could not detect that toffee crunch and all I could taste was cream after cream. But I guess this is what happens when you buy freshly produced tarts
