True to its name, we were given three-layer fat pork belly barbecued and served on a sizzling platter. Lightly seasoned with salt and pepper and partnered with kimchi, gochujang and lettuce on the side
Try to not let it sit for too long as the meat gets slightly tough

This chilly weather got me thinking of this sundubu jjigae from Three Meals A Day. With just the right amount of spice, this piping hot stew is comforting, filling, and satisfying. Topped with either seafood or pork (opted for the former), their generous serving makes the broth more savoury yet still clear. But the success of this dish is from their perfectly cooked soft tofu, which seeped all the flavours of the stew
Would enjoy it better with a runny egg topping (overcooked alr) and without broken mussel shells π loved this decently priced dish nonetheless

Completing our βputok batokβ meal is this deep-fried ruffled pork fat, served with chili vinegar
Never tried eating chicharon bulaklak back home cos of its unappetizing look. Never looked back after trying once π
Consume with caution though - very high in cholesterol

With a minimum of 2 diners, you can avail their weekend boodle fight special which serves you a platter with the following:
- Chicken Inasal
- Liempo Inasal
- Bbq Isaw
- Pork Bbq
- Pansit Canton
- Jasmine Rice
- Steamed Vegetables
- Salted Egg
(shown in photo is for 3 pax)
Yes, apt to its name, this is all meat π you can opt for seafood or snack-ish set
Enjoyed the pork intestine bbq the most - crisp and cooked well. Pork bbq and liempo inasal has similar sweet & charred flavour profile, slightly heavy and filling. The chicken inasal is not bad as well, prolly the βhealthiestβ meat on the dish. Steamed veggies (okra, eggplant and sweet potato leaves) could be better, best paired with bagoong (sauteed shrimp paste) and salted egg
Not the best Filipino food here, but enough to fix our cravings
We opted for refillable drinks as well for additional $5++ per head

A very decent and affordable alrernative to my recent tonkatsu post is The Bowl Storyβs pork katsu don. Nestled in the busy centre of ABC Brickworks, they serve quite fast even with queue of orders. Their tender and not so oily pork is topped on their Japanese rice, served with onsen egg and drizzled with some mayo and shredded nori. Good value for money ππ»

With our recent move quite distant from Saboten, we finally got to try Tonkatsu by Ma Maison and it didnβt disappoint
Similar to usual tonkatsu places, they have refillable cabbage, rice, and miso soup, that come with the deep fried pork loin with good meat to fat ratio
Apart from good food, their service is really commendable

Took us a while before we gave in to trying Shakeyβs here (this is one of the pizza places we frequent back home); was worth it given our longing for a taste of home
Pizza was piping hot despite being delivered. Similar to the usual supreme from Pizza Hut, Managerβs Choice also got loads of beef, ham, and veggie toppings. We enjoy it in thin crust as per ush
Was looking forward to the mojos from the buddy pack but it was just underseasoned and soggy π’ chicken was normal

Good wanton mee with really notable individual components
The springy noodles are likely cooked/soaked in lard before serving as itβs very rich in pork taste, not that Iβm complaining π
Topped with crunchy kailan, 2 types of wanton - steamed & fried (I prefer the former one, really good and with generous filling), and their char siew (can be customized). Opted for the fatty char siew - too fatty but I still enjoyed it; will try half lean/half fat next time. Not to forget their lava egg which has a slight sweet hint :)
To note: got queue even if quite ulu!

Mid-Autumn Festival is just around the corner, but itβs not yet late to try this from Rafflesβ mooncake selection!
Was gifted with this lovely mooncake with a perfect taste contrast and texture from the double yolk, with macadamia nuts and white lotus
The mooncake matches with the timeless box design as well π

Indulged in this assorted sashimi don, featuring amaebi, topped with ikura
And yes, again, I am so glad we have chanced upon Meshiya. All the sashimi slices were surprisingly fresh, though slightly thin. And the amaebi (!!!) is really really good that we had to do seconds!

So glad to have found this hidden gem in Everton Park!
This don has fresh salmon sashimi, better than what I expected for some hole in the wall place. The ikura on top were also very plump and fresh
Dish is quite affordable for its quality ππ»
