Very unassuming dish with no high hopes for it, but this was perfectly done! The flavour and bite was 😍 would return for this, and also the wonderful service!
We ordered a yuzu wasabi and an original bowl, which both tasted very similar... would stick to the umami bowl next time. Strangely, 1 bowl is always too little, but 2 bowls is too much?!
The waitress also very made a very strange comment when we asked for warm water, "but we have to get hot water from the bar..." Really?
Upon looking through the reviews which overflowed with praise for the pizza fries, this was our choice of side dish, which came... 40min after our poké bowls, no apology or anything of sorts.
It has a very intense flavour, and smells exactly like pizza. But also indeed gets very jelat for two, even though it's only half the volume of the tray it comes in. Also, RE the review that says the cheese doesn't solidify? It does now 😂
Price was definitely justifiable using #burpplebeyond, otherwise the bill would have been $50 😨 the fruits (albeit slightly unfresh) and chocolate tasted great, small treat to ourselves. It was hard to get a big table though
In case anyone would still like to visit the place, horrible, horrible service. They even managed to eff up the prawn paste chicken wings(pictured)... it was overfried. Crabs also came bitter, definitely not fresh. Would not recommend!!!
It is unfortunate that of all 4 dishes we ordered; this chicken, stuffed squid, salsa bread and valrhona beef, the burnt/charred look/smell/taste had a VERY strong presence. The best dish we had was the beef, very tender and flavourful, since only the accompanying bread could and was charred. Decor was beautiful.
Used #burpplebeyond and was denied seating in the cafe because it was "takeaway"! This would have been understandable if the place was crowded, but it was completely empty, and based on past reviews I can see that this is BS. Was also only allowed to pay by cash and not favepay; my first time encountering such a restriction.
Staff also put the beef into the takeaway paper bowl, which is lined with wax, before using the blowtorch... not sure if best practice.
That aside, crispy fish skin topping made an interesting addition for texture, was quite filling even though small.
But absolutely worth it. At least, once a year anyway. Ordered one for takeaway as their queue was long (as usual!), got it fresh from the oven. Egg custard still jiggles and while the pastry doesn't look like it, it's actually very light and flaky!
Ordered this with high expectations as I had really fantastic ones at the outlet in centrepoint but this looks and tastes vastly different... in a bad way.
With #burpplebeyond, the price tag of $16.9 was well justified... might not have tried without the coupon. Bailey's ice cream was a bit too sweet but loved the chocolate chunks in other flavours. Whipped cream was a little odd. The staff also served water to us unexpectedly, a really nice touch
