This was only alright. The churros were not very crisp on the outside and the inside was a little on the dense side. Probably better off getting something else.
I really enjoyed this - mostly cos I like all things egg. It was a nice density and the chorizo gave it smoky and salty flavours. Also, the toast and tomatoes that it came with was delishhh.
Seemed a little more risotto-like than paella. I thought it was quite wet, and didn't have much oomph. It did taste quite nice though, just not what I expected.
Was tipped off about this place that is super popular among those working in the area. This was my second attempt to come because the first visit scared me off with the MASSIVE queue - and I totally understand why! Such great value for what you get. I went with the samgyetang (it was a rainy day). It came with half a little chicken, a choice of rice or glass noodles and little dishes on the side. So belly warming and tasty and for only $12.
I love an uni bowl. π€€ The Chef starts off by mixing 2 mystery sauces with 2 types of sea urchin of different grades together, the rice is then mixed into this so that every grain is coated in uni goodness. Then it is served, topped with ikura, more uni and a dollop of wasabi. Get in my belly now!
Was lucky to snap up a reservation at Ryo just 4 days ahead (I hear you typically need to call way in advance). We went for the full 18-course sea urchin... cos we can't do without the uni. Aside from the 12 pieces of super fresh sushi, there was also edamame, a truffled onsen tamago, hijiki seaweed salad, a sea urchin ikura don, a crab hand roll and onion soup. My favourite sushi pieces were the shima aji (horse mackerel) with ?yuzu and the chutoro with shoyu foam.
Really well worth the price for the quality of ingredients used. I'd come back in a heartbeat!
I'm not usually one to order pasta but this was really good! This pasta dish is loaded with beef and mushrooms, and has a surprising crunch from the cornichon. The sour cream also adds a creaminess to the pasta. So hearty! π€€
Spent $17 on a waffles (set of 2) and 3 massive scoops of ice cream. The waffles here are always good and I've never been disappointed with Creamier. We went with a rich Black Forest, the (always good) pistachio and the Horlicks - which in its own malty way, oddly had an after taste of mushroom soup. Eh?
Also, this location tucked away in Gillman Barracks has to be my favourite ice cream spot - though slightly more annoying to get to.
A tasty blend of super tasty & frosty acai, housemade banana nice cream, granola and protein powder. A perfect post-class snack!
Another just okay dish. The rice was nicely seasoned with a subtle hint of ginger - but it wasn't particularly fluffy and in some parts stuck together. The meat was nice enough, like a tender/juicy deli rotisserie chicken and there was a little after taste of the beer. There was a nostalgic feel to this dish - it reminded us of hawker western food chicken chop, especially the gloopy pepper sauce that glazed the chicken leg. Again, it tasted fine but - I don't think I'd pay $16 for this again. π
Sooo, this looked much better in the photos - I was a little disappointed. The pork belly tasted good but it was not tender (like braised meat ought to be), and the richness of the meat was not sufficient to carry the rather tasteless linguine. A shame though cos the meat tasted nice.
