Could we have a Just Dough in the east please? 🥺 This is one of my favourite mantous - fluffy bao with generous fillings which are yummy and not too sweet!
A delicious iced white during this hot humid season!! I wanted soy milk but they only have oat milk at the cost of $1 more, so I stuck with regular milk instead. Got this with Grab’s self-pick up option for 25% off.
I love how Mr Kneady's offers small sourdough loaves at an affordable price for each - allowing you to try more flavours! Featured here is the brown sugar and goji berry loaf which I loved!! (goji berry fan here, would recommend this to any goji berry fan). It's crunchy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and generous with the berries. Definitely a good sourdough all around, it's not too tough crust wise or too sour on the inside.
Hitsumabushi means to eat in three ways. I ordered it out of curiosity, but I admit I wasn’t quite sure how to eat this at first! Like why is there soup in a teapot?? After some research I later found out that the eel and rice is supposed to be split into 4 quarters and eaten in three different ways - savoured on its own, mixed with condiments such as seaweed and wasabi, with soup poured over it. The broth was delightfully light and wasn’t too salty.
I’m a huge fan of LeNu myself so I was quite excited to try this place, another one of the Paradise Group’s creations. I was not disappointed - the dumplings were huge with crunchy prawn fillings (came with 5 dumplings that I couldn’t finish), la mian portion was generous as usual and the prawn broth was rich and addictive.
Prawn mee lovers would enjoy this place! It’s like a prawn version of LeNu 🦐🦐🦐
This was a very yummy sushi roll on their seasonal menu: Blossoms of Joy. Crispy fried squid on top of a sushi roll wrapped in lobster salad, crab meat and sakura ebi drizzled generously with tangy spicy mayonnaise. Really liked the red crispy sakura ebi bits fried from prawn shells!!
First time trying frog porridge and I must agree that it does taste like chicken, only a lot bonier!!
For 2 people we were recommended 5 frogs split between two flavours - dry chilli & ginger and spring onion. We preferred the dry chilli one but I liked the ginger and spring onion one too because it was sweeter, though it could get a little bit jelat after awhile. The porridge ($3 per pot) here has a really comforting taste, although it was very very thick and filling, we could not finish a pot between two people.
Favourite dish of the night - creamy miso butter sauce with a flaky fillet of cod, charred and seasoned beautifully. Comes with a dollop of berry sauce too. Capellini is served on the side tossed with ebiko, shredded kombu and fresh herbs, giving it a flair of umami.
Not sure if we were just really hungry and everything was so delish, we felt that the portions were slightly small. That aside, Cicada has a lovely ambience, friendly service and interesting cocktails, a great place for girls night out!!
Typical cafe mainstay that surprised me at this unassuming place! OTC Cafe has a really nice ambience - a brightly lit, spacious cosy little corner on L3 of our national library. The eggs were poached perfectly and their runny yolks were a creamy combination on top of the multigrain toasts together with the generously sliced avocado and parmesan.
These are my favourite noodles out of the variety of noodles LeNu has to offer!! A simple dry bowl of la mian tossed in their signature sauce which is both sweet and savoury, topped off with sze chuan pickles, peanuts, crispy anchovies, bean sprouts, bonito flakes and spring onions - it really makes for quite an umami experience!
One of our favourite places to get extremely affordable noodles and dumplings! A9 used to be housed at a cosy little spot on level 3 but has recently moved to a much bigger space on level 2. The noodles are on the softer side yet retain a QQ texture. Though simple, it’s a warm and comforting meal after a day of studying.
The noodles and dumplings are already so affordable, yet A9 still offers special daily discounts! Look out for them on the blackboard placed outside.
I was quite disappointed with these egg tarts because they failed to impress me despite the hype and it’s a rather steep price for an average-tasting egg tart 😢 The cookie base (pastry wasn’t available) wasn’t buttery enough for my liking and though the egg pudding was silky, it wasn’t rich enough either. I had Tai Cheong egg tarts the next day and I can confidently say that those are superior.
