When one orders "Pattaya" in this kind of restaurant it will come wrapped in this layer of eggs. That time around I chose kway teow (flat rice noodles) as the filling. It was tasty and a bit charred from the stir frying. The egg layer was doused with some ketchup so it had additional tangy flavour to it.
Always good for supper time! They are open 24 hours!

A very typical dish from Indian Muslim restaurant, basically instant noodles (usually Maggi brand) fried (goreng in Malay language) with special spices and accompanied with egg and cucumber. I find this the perfect example of how cultures all mix in this part of the world. I actually like it when it's a bit colder/room temperature, seems like the spices are more pronounced somehow. At first I thought it was going to be closer to chilli ban mee (of which there are multiple offerings in Singapore), but it's actually best described as prawn mee with a dollop of chilli gravy. There were other toppings that were not considered standard for prawn mee though such as bean curd pieces and fishcakes. Basically a very unique type of noodle bowl, one would be hard-pressed to find a similar one.
The chilli sauce / gravy was actually not that spicy. Or at least it wasn't the kind of spicy I was expecting. Instead of the biting or burning-your-mouth type of spicy it heated up my body instead and made me sweat a lot. I'm guessing there's some ginger and a healthy dose of pepper in the gravy.
Overall an enjoyable bowl, and a unique experience!

Thick noodles coated with tasty fragrant oil! (They call it original Kampua style, which is where they originated from) Similar to kolo mee style however these noodles are straighter and thicker. They also had other base sauces, even the oh-so-hip mala, but I really like the original so I didn't bother trying the others. Also true to its name, the noodles really had the "qq" chewy texture that was so pleasant. Besides this "traditional" noodle bowl they also had many other things on their menu, even fried noodles and claypot noodles. This might just have become my favourite noodle house on the block!

They were just... Doughy, I think that's the word. Thick and doughy. They were really generous with the wantons, just look how many they gave me! Char siew was sweetish. Sauce was ok though not too memorable. The thick noodles totally were, though!

I was often out of luck when I visited! I wanted the char siew and roast pork on Hakka noodles, and wasn't disappointed! In a way it was like a taste of home, with the wide slippery noodles coated with fragrant oil and white pepper, just like my auntie used to make at home! (My auntie is of Hakka descent too, so maybe that's why it's similar?)
Of course the meat was da bomb. Herbal with a tinge of sweetness, and the crispy crunchy skin of the roast pork was just ummmhh.
Sooo satisfying!

This restaurant along Joo Chiat road has been a fixture for a long time and that's how you know how good it is! The bihon (rice noodles akin to vermicelli) was chewy and smooth. It was stir fried nicely with the pork and vegetables. Simple but fulfilling!

Looks kinda plain but looks were deceiving! Gravy was thick and chunky with great sweetish taste. Could really taste the real crab bits! Slightly more expensive than my usual noodle or pasta bowls but hey this is not really the place to have cheap quick eats but rather where you can have a long lazy lunch hahaha..

Visited the hawker centre at late night after attending some event, and I was so happy to see that the stall was open. The base sauce was dark and flavourful. I think a lot of mushrooms went into it. Noodles had really good chewy bite. And of course I asked them for extra fuzhou fishballs. Tasty! Definitely a must try in this food centre.
Note: location tag is showing Roxy Square, however this stall has moved permanently to Old Airport Road Food Centre (51 Old Airport Road).

Was roaming around the Marine Parade block 84 Hawker Centre again one day to look for noodles. The sign caught my eye; lor mee for only $2.50?? Sign me up!!
The ingredients were quite generous considering the price. They even threw in fried fish. Overall it's ok but the gravy lacked complexity, I feel. It was a mix of savoury and kinda sweet but that's it. But hey, can't complain for the price!!

Unfortunately they ran out of char siew so I got dumpling noodles instead. The noodles were of straighter type. Base sauce was quite unique. Spicy roasted chilli, but there was also a bit of nutty taste to it. Also a bit of tang (probably tomato/ketchup). The dumplings were sweet and awesome... Silky skin with good fillings. Overall really good, will come again and try the char siew wanton noodles!

Char siew looked dry and noodles looked just ok. But it turned out this plate was not bad at all! The chunky char siew had a lot of flavours. The sauce was more like a light version with a touch of tomato/ketchup. Overall quite good balanced plate and enjoyable.
