I've never tried this style of yong tau foo before and was intrigued by the noodle style as well as the limited selection of toppings! The rest of Singapore seemed to be clued in as this place was bustling. Recommended by my dad, this place already had a tiny crowd upon opening and apparently they sell out early. As for the food, the noodles was nicely al dente and tasty, but I felt the tou foo toppings were normal? Pretty good dipped in their sweet sauce and chili though. Won't be craving this but a great meal if you're in the area!
Made a unexpected stop here for a bit yesterday after needing a break from the Christmas crowds, and we shared the Chic set ($32) amongst the two of us. Choose scones, muffins or a slice of cake for the top tier and comes with choice of tea. Lovely place to take a break from the crowd, and to have a snack as well. The sandwiches turned out to be waaay nicer than it looked, my favourite being the truffle mushroom one. And the veg one turned out to have prawns inside! Not a bad deal when sharing but a little pricey for one.
Our table of 4 ordered multiple dishes and desserts to share and our favourite was definitely the gnocchi and the salmon! Everything tasted so clean but yet so so tasty. Yum, definitely want to go back to try everything else on the menu (and eat full portions of what we ordered) the desserts were pretty good too, tasted very sophisticated but didn't draw me back in like the food did. Will definitely be back!
We keep going back for the cheap sushi, from when it was 4 per pax to now 1 per pax (but with more variety now so it's technically 3 per pax). A good place for a decent sushi fix when in the area. Their business is still consistently good even after many years. Nothing amazing but we still get a decent meal there for an affordable price, and always remember to ask before seating if the cheap sushi is available!
Such value for money. Any day we have personal transport, this is the place to be. They have two sets that can be purchased for 2 or 4 ppl, from $15-$20 for 2 ppl. Pictured was the warriors set and not pictured is the nasi lemak set. One minor complaint would be that there was not enough rice for 4 of us (we ordered 2 sets for 2 ppl). Other than that the food was fresh, crisp, tasty, and delicious!
A brunch cafe that had food was a notch above other typical cafes. Had the crab cake, the egg and bacon sandwich, eggs on toast and the truffle fries. The crab cake was the standout dish, grab a bite with everything in it (esp. a couple of the ikura) and it was delish. The sandwich was a good second place. While the truffle fries was not too bad, it came so late after we had finished everything that it wasn't enjoyable and we couldn't finish it. I think they waited till they could serve a batch at once, but it really was a little too long for us. All in all, a great place to try and will not hesitate to go back if I'm in the area (or have a car!)
Lunch sets here are a really good deal! $12 for any pasta, drink and a small dessert. Sadly the side of truffle fries was nothing to write home about, fries were thickly cut and had a truffle cheese powder and were soso. The pasta on the other hand was delicious, I had the shrimp aglio olio and before I knew it I had finished the plate. Definitely a great budget meal if you're in the bugis area!
11 on a Monday and no wait. Had low expectations and was pleasantly surprised! The food was decent, service was attentive, and cuteness very cute. 😅 a little overpriced but not too shabby for these type of themed restaurant. Some of the items weren't available today but I expected that after a busy weekend. Worth a try and for the novelty factor, but only if it isn't crowded. 🍳
Queued over an hour for this on a Friday night, been seeing this style of tempura on social media. Seating was sparse and food took a little while hence the wait. Some items in the bowl was better than others, enjoyed the long bean (surprisingly), squid, and the prawn. One criticism was probably not enough rice for the amount of toppings. All in all, not bad, not super worth the queue but a pretty good hearty meal.
Decent kway chap, chopped by a elderly lady like a champ. Walked around and saw a lot of people eating from this stall so had to try it! Definitely hits the spot. Ordered a 3 portion mixed set with 4 noodles for $8.50. Great but not fantastic, a decent place for kway chap at a good price for sure!
Randomly picked this place for a meet up in raffles place and it wasn't bad! $10 for decent sized bowl of pork belly and runny egg plus $4 for a drink and sashimi. Wasn't amazing but a good affordable quality meal right next to raffles mrt.
We eat this everytime we are back, and the value can't be beat. But there was something off about the pasta today. Even the colour looked dull and different from before and it was missing that addictive kick we loved. Hope it's an off day! The sea bass we had was still pretty good though.
