Such a unique offering in a hawker center! And so bustling on a Wednesday evening too. Imagine the best prawny crabby prawn mee broth, rich but not too rich that you can inhale a whole pot of it. And loaded with goodies! Prawns, the freshest crab, small intestine, pork rib, tail, and unlimited soup. Add abalone if you wish! It's no wonder so many customers bring their own toppings (mushrooms, tofu, veg, etc) and most tables there was prepared! Not only that the set came with unlimited portions of dry noodles coated in a light (but lethal) chili. Perfect companion to the addictive soup! Head down on that chilly night and prepare to wait for this unique offering at old airport road hawker center. Remember to bring some add ons too!
Tried the $15 fish head curry promo (with any dish purchase). The fish head was substantial and the curry was rich and smooth, and not too oily. It's also not too salty which I liked. Chock full of other ingredients like tau pok, eggplant and ladies fingers, this was really value for money. Their business was booming on a Sunday night and the manager/owner managed it really well. Also tried the speciality chicken dish ($10) and was loved it as well! Definitely a nice place for comfy tze char in aircon for those hot days.
Finally tried 58 Prawn Noodles after hearing about it from when I was younger and I'm moving into this area so had to try what my new hood has to offer. Pretty decent broth and no wait at all on a late Saturday afternoon. It's hey-day has definitely passed. All in all an okay bowl of prawn mee ($3.50) and nothing super special to write home about but I'm not too fussed about having it either. Good enough to satisfy ones prawn mee craving!
Lighting was a little dim but finally tried venchi after hearing so much about it. Loved the cocoa flavour more than the hazelnut, but felt the price was a little steep for the portion ($8.60 for the regular - 2 flavours) still worth a try!
Was craving wanton mee and found out about this stall! Loved the noodle texture and the wantons, the chili was a bit overpowering in terms of the gravy, will ask for less next time even though I asked for "一点点". Not super outstanding but definitely hits the spot!
