Just got these in the mail ... singaporean cuisine flavoured potato chips! ππ₯π³ These are so popular on Shopee haha πππ Can't wait to try them out later! ππ From what I can see the flavour for these comes from a flavour enhancer and not actual animal products. So this makes them vegan and vegetarian friendly! ππ #sgfood #igsg #singaporefood #sgig #foodsg #singapore #sgfoodies #yoursingapore #burpple #snacks #chips #sgfoodporn #snacktime #sgfoodie #exploresingapore #whati8today #foodpornsg #burpplesg #sgeats #instasg #rice #meat #instafood_sg #eggprata #fishcurry #chickenrice #hainanese #singaporefood #singaporefoodie #singaporefoodies
The actual yoghurt was smooth and creamy with just the right amount of sweetness (not at all overpowering). They had a good array of toppings and sauces to choose from. I went for marshmallows, granola and chocolate chips and topped it with hershey's chocolate syrup. Reasonably priced too ... will defo come back here again!
Recommending popiah, a popular Singaporean snack, to my overseas Burpple users here. It resembles a Mexican burrito but we use a thinner skin made from wheat flour, with fillings consisting of crunchy vege goodness such as turnips, beansprouts, lettuce, grounded peanuts, definitely no cheese, with chilli optional. It also shares many characteristics as Asian springrolls.
πΈ
I like my popiah skin to be thin with the right balance of ingredients, but don't mind an overdose of peanuts. I usually take my popiah without chilli so that I can focus on the sweet sauce, but was recommended to have chilli on this because it was spicy and sharp. Indeed, I love the strong chilli here.

I have not tried really good popiahs yet, that one was where the popular Yishun 928 laksa is, and at the best I've had was at Qiji. Anyone has a good popiah to recommend?

Just what one need for a hot day.
JINzakaya's gyozas are JIN shiok, believe me. Priced very reasonably at $10 for a half dozen of these plumptious beauties (yeah, it sounds a lot better when Nigella Lawson says it), there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't order a plate of these glorious gyozas.
A terrifically thin dumpling skin that's seductively sticky struggles to encase the utter wealth of filling within itself. The filling of pork, chives and other assorted veggies within are sensationally seasoned, and every bite into it just kicks off a massive flavor fiesta on your tastebuds. The gyozas are fried to perfection, and despite them getting their baptism in boiling oil, they weren't overly oily.
Don't forsake the age old pairing of sake and gyoza, especially not at JINzakaya. Their gyozas are just simply stellar, and it washes down well with their wide selection of sterling sakes.
Many thanks to the lovely Merissa and Yizhen of Les Amis Group for hosting our hungry bunch, and to Burpple for the invite!

3 types available, Medovik (layered honey cake) , chocolate spartak (layered choc cake) and Napoleon Torte ( Russian Mille feuille). Paying homage to @anna_fil culture, I got all 3 cakes ππ»ππ». π΄
It's v similar to crepe cakes but the layers are made of cake rather than crepe (other than the napoleon torte that IS a crepe cake). The all 3 flavours were v good. The sweetness is well balanced. π€€π€€π€€ The honey cake is definitely for speculoos lovers, the lotus crumbles layer compliments the tart sour cream v well. The chocolate spartak was bittersweet without being overly jelat! Head down for the last day of the bake sale and their Mediterranean inspired menu for a 3 course meal tmr! They will be around from 9-4pm. Do make your reservations or head down early because they sell out their mains quite fast! π€€
π΄
They will only be available till tmr because @airshipmonniker has a guest chefing concept where different aspiring chefs/ home chefs invade the kitchen every weekend. You're only given one chance to try the dishes created by every chef. So catch them while you can!

This is taken the fourth stop of our cafe hop that day! Pictured is a cute orange cake with yuzu, orange jelly and flourless pistachio sponge. #prettycake #teatime #orange
This has become the must order item here at Tampopo - This never looks anything close to the type of ramen that I would have readily order. Plain as it may look, the stock is full of chicken collagen and the simple sweetness of chicken soup. The magical touch comes with the Japanese herb (rocket?) that gives it that citrus fragrance, which instantly appeal to your palate. No wonder they say, the smell (in this case the citrus smell) comes before the taste.
Literally dessert in a cup, I shudder to think how much calories could possibly be in this but since I am not eating healthy anyway adding whipped cream is a must. A creamy and dreamy concoction, it was kinda like drinking coconut milk but with the tangy-sweetness of the strawberry purΓ©e - so sinful, so good. The full-bodied blend also had the added textures from the sprinkle of crunchy toasted coconut flakes and bits of strawberries. Not overly sweet (to me at least), the sourness from the berries really made it more palatable and refreshing by cutting a bit of that usual cloyness from the cream Frappuccino.
Carrying a similar logo and menu to the known Putien, a relatively new stall popped up in my neighbourhood coffeeshop (Block 503) - Classic Putien. And with everything new, there was a queue but service was reasonably fast.
Offering a 2 person set ($28), you can pick a choice of noodle from the selection of mains/carbs like their Mee Sua, Bee Hoon and Lor Mee. And the standard sides are Crispy Fried Batang Fish, Herbs Prawn and Beancurd Skin with Kailan.
The Bee Hoon being the most 'Putien-ish' dish had a surprisingly generous amount of clams and vegetables; not too dry or overly moist. The Batang Fish slices were also fresh and crisp while my only complaint was that the herb broth for the prawns had too much Chinese wine added giving it a sharp lingering aftertaste.
Overall a pretty balanced meal, the Bee Hoon and Herbals Prawn were not too bad and the portion decent. However, taste wise .... Expectations have to be managed for the price point imo. Having compare it to the restaurant standard, the ingredients and flavours were certainly different but for a hawker food it performed rather well.
