At Shabu Shabu Gyu Jin, Hidaka harvested Mitsuishi Kelp Dashi fills one half of your hotpot. As their standard, this broth comes with all shabu shabu sets. Five different soup stocks they offer, with yuzu salt, savoury and spicy, and creamy salted rice malt dashi as their options to consider.
.
Start with a swish of American beef submerged in dashi (broth) made with konbu (kelp), having its quality in all originality. Fatty strips of pork ribs are sweet while pork loin slices are toughest, with chicken thigh biting more tender. Cooked in very light broth, robust flavour of meat undoubtedly fills your mouth.
.
Suki Dashi flavoured our other half. The dark broth masks a fair amount of meatiness with a fragrant sweetness. Mix your own concoction from the bar’s options, but ponzu and gomadare (sesame) are set on each table. A light dip in tangy and salty ponzu sauce, makes a refreshingly balance to the suki dashi the meats pick up.
.
Boil in vegetables and try dipping them in gomadare. Leftover broth at the end is customarily combined with the remaining rice and the suki dashi combines delightfully with the sweet sticky grain as the last part of the meal.

Everyone's got to try their mentaiko aburi salmon!!! It perks me up instantly 😇❣️❣️Also v happy that the bowl was overflowing with a generous amount of greens.
This is one of my favorites in the 12-course Chinese New Year Omakase ($88++) from @FortByMaisonIkkoku. 🍣🍣🍣
You can expect other items such as miso abalone, unagi don, among others.

Thank you @justinfoodprints for extending the invitation and @fortbymaisonikkoku for hosting us.
Having their Caesar salad on galette was treat to the traditional salad with added buckwheat flour crepe. Their also had some Asian twists, the Chilli crab galette that we had was a familiar flavour married to a French.
But our favourite was the Apple salted caramel crepe that we ended our meal with. Tasty and not overly sweet.
The experience here was an enjoyable one, cosy interior, relaxed with jazzy music that could pull off in a place of of the country without looking out to the street. I enjoyed, especially with my glass of iced coffee with a generous dose of Armagnac.
I've been having loads of Japanese food the past few months in the course of my work, but I still find it impossible to turn away sashimi and vinegared rice. Love the generosity of the raw fish toppings here at Manzoku – there's salmon, tuna and swordfish in this mix!
The Poke Bowl wiped away all my guilt after my sinful indulgences of the other dishes. I particularly found the salmon fresh, and cashews highly addictive. Enjoyed the fact that the crowd on a weekday afternoon was light too!
So having come here with an emptier stomach this time, I enjoyed this much more compared to my first experience.
Batter was still light and non-greasy, rice was still wonderfully fluffy, and the entire set provided a lot of bang for your buck. However, I personally would much prefer crispier tempura, & I really wouldn't want to queue as long as I did for this.
Still, kudos to the staff who were efficient and accomodated the long line as quickly as they could!
Had their latte, earl grey roll and Okinawa Brown Sugar Roll. Not much a fan of the Okinawa roll but as usual, the Earl Grey Roll doesn't disappoint. Light on the tongue, but the earl grey taste was strong enough. Not too sweet either. Loved it.

How can we miss out on the Skewered food at a Yakitori stall? They had interesting cut like the heart, skin and usual ones like the thigh and wings. But for those who are thinking of something less meaty, grilled shiitake mushroom was a good choice. .
|
The intense heat drained out the excess moisture and keep the mushroom dried. The flavor concentrated and became a mushroom boom. Earthiness rushed through the palate and tasted like meat. .

Not a bad place to chill and have a few sake.
lovely cafe hidden at a building sitting at the corner. Perfect for catch ups and chats over good food...

One of my fav bar along Ann Siang. Love their cocktails!
Looks totally different from the menu. Salmon, veggies and rice. Staple Japanese meal. Simple and tasty, and pretty affordable!
