Everyone craves for a good steak. At least, everyone who appreciates steak would crave for good steak. This newly opened restaurant/lounge opened directly in the heart of KL, within walking distance to KLCC. With an incredible view and an ambience that'll make you feel 500 bucks richer, you'd probably have to match up to it. Prices here are steep, not to say the worst, but certainly matches up to the quality of the meats. The highly recommended dry-aged wagyu starts from a hefty RM268++ onwards so be prepared to stretch out that budget line. The meat is incredibly juicy and thicker than most notable steakhouses in KL, matching up to those of international standards. Nevertheless, from the start(er) to the finishing desserts, this restaurant definitely did not disappoint and it was blood money well spent. Probably a little off the objective, but the complimentary basket bread was enlightening and brought the idea and the ramification of the word "fresh" to a brand new context. A little bit more love for the Rosemary-infused rolls. Although not the greatest appreciator of wines, the selection here is vast and would definitely be able to work up to the expectations of many. Despite it all, I would be glad to say that I will see myself on the restaurant's grounds in the near future.
Back for a second try, this cafe has yet to disappointment me with its salmon and egg platter and the chicken and apple sandwich, in which I highly recommend. The French toast however, maybe a little too sweet to savor, building quite a need for water for the not-so-sweet tooths around. However it was nicely finished off with the banana pudding, which ended my experience on a good note. Being in a row of shops smack in the middle of a quaint residential area, it proves to be the perfect hideout and an ideally excusable escape from bumping into people and a beacon for solitude. But not for long, for the word of mouth is as contagious as a common flu, so do check it out soon before the crowd starts kicking in!
Bringing the notable Southern staples to Malaysian floors, its impact is made known due to it's previous success with it's central and pioneer branch, Acme Bar and Coffee. However, the menu here almost completely differs to the one in the main outlet, bringing a fresh dining experience to the Bangsar scene. The menu as of now is tentatively rigid and the main choices of meats are the beef ribs and the smoked chicken, served with a uniquely seasoned corn on a cob and another side dish of your selection. Additionally, I ordered the Mac and cheese and hands down it was one of the gooiest around, considering I favor the ways of heavy cookeries, otherwise it might be a little too much than you'd expect, but nevertheless for a mere MYR9, it's pretty worth it. The turtle cheesecake was a slightly more mousses variation of the New York cheesecake, served with whipped cream and an ice cream, it's a sin on all levels of a staunch dieter's scale. All in all, it is what to be expected of a southern dining experience and it definitely did not disappoint me. Maintaining the outdoor area similar to the troika branch, the view of the surrounding nightlife only accentuates the whole experience and with no biased-ness to it's previous success, this is one potential everyone should be wary of.
Only one of its kind, Morelli's only outlet is conveniently located at Bangsar shopping centre (to a certain extent, of course). The generous serving of chocolate and hazelnut gelato, topped with a huge swirl of whipped cream, hazelnuts and vanilla soft serve with a side of a Ferrero Rocher sauce in a chocolate bowl and finished with a dark chocolate flake stick and a Morelli's wafer, this masterpiece is the epitome of luxury for an appetite as big as mine as well as everyone else. Although the price may seem steep at MYR39++, a portion size clearly big enough for 2 and for premium gelato, there's really not much to complain about except why your wallet would have the audacity to tell you that you shouldn't come back for more.
Today's catch was the cornflake, gula Melaka syrup-drizzled French toast and the breakfast platter at the spacey restaurant of Damansara Kim. Having being at the Sunday brunch, our unique menu was narrowed down to 3, yet 2 of them have managed to please me with authenticity and vibrance. The flavours of both dishes were rich and it certainly tells when you sink that fork into the incredibly chunky sausage. As for the cappuccino, the ratio of milk to coffee was precisely the point to deliver the. richness of the coffee at its best. Though a brief visit, this was certainly a impressionable one and I'll definitely be back to try out the desserts and cakes, as well as the kitchen menu. Soon enough.
This true masterpiece hailed from the Old Lim Kok Wing building next to SK Taman Megah. An extremely generous serving of jumbo sausages, shredded chicken, salami, chicken wings, ribs, lamb chops and a slab of mashed potato drenched in overflowing gravy smacked right in the centre. Also, an amazing garlic cheese naan served here, utilizing the most cheeses, including (and especially) mozzarella, among everywhere else. A truly understated haven, this marks the revolution and birth of a new era of Malaysian delicacies, I kid you not. Saying this much probably spilt more juices than that platter would.
What better way to bring in them Hong Kong vibes to Malaysia than to have Dim Sum?! A popular breakfast option among the urban Chinese communities, it slowly merged its way into the 10 to 10 circle of restaurants. Jinxuan stands at the higher range of the casual dining experience, but based solely on the flavours, it encompasses the range of dishes as much as we could ask for. Very fresh and with serving trays going around non-stop rotations, it's a viciously continuous cycle especially during the weekends. Considering the convenience of finding an outlet and the overall standard of the Lau Sar Pau (Yellow custard bun), you'd pretty much know where to find me if I'm craving a basket or two.
The signature pasta dish here boasts an even blend of sambal and tomato purée with a moderate serving of seafood that compliments well. The space is fogged with traditional Malaysian village-like interior, making the area of Telawi, Bangsar livelier looking. The fusion styles here distinctively used Malaysian touches to cross with the casual western fares, making it one of its kind. If you ever come down to Malaysia and you something slightly fancy and local at the same time, this is the place to be.
One of the few of it's kind, an absolutely typical-looking rice stall somewhere within SS15 of Subang Jaya, but things took a turn (for the better) when my teeth sinked into the chicken drenched in the creamy and buttery sauce that marks the highlight of my years to come. Also, have a go at the buttermilk squid and tom-yam fried rice, which I personally think really goes hand in hand. Passionately and professionally speaking, this is the best shit ever.
The epitome of fancy and breakfasts, thus the aptly named place. Taking fine dining to the casual scope, this place is all about the proper and grace. They have a rotating menu every week, so it's good to check up on them once in a while on their instagram at instagram.com/fancybreakfastclub!
Acme takes an eccentric twist on classic breakfast staples, leaving choices like the buckwheat pancakes served with caramelized pears. A little coarse to taste, yet the organic-y blend in the flapjacks with sweet pears leaves you in ecstasy. Placing on the higher end of the price range for breakfast munches, it's not the first place that always come to mind, but its fresh take definitely leaves a strong impact upon first timers, as well as it had on mine.
This quaint store's placed in the heart of Kuala Lumpur beside Changkat. French toast with chantilly cream and peaches that melt in your mouth, succulent sausages and aromatically sautéed mushrooms with sunny side ups, baked goods such as the dense coconut shave strawberry pound cake and mushroom quiche and of course a smooth, smooth cappucino. I think I'm pretty much sorted.
