The competition at Horne Road may be stiff, especially with the likes of The Bravery and Windowsill Pies all situated at the same stretch. You probably can tell from their name that they serve pretty decent cakes and pastries, such as their light Strawberry Shortcake and their beautiful Eclairs, but they also serve pretty honest and huge all-day breakfast as well. The owners are very on-the-ball, and willing to start a conversation and gather some feedback on the food, which shows their sincerity in serving customers the very best. A new spot that you should consider visiting around Jalan Besar.

Bunch of young business starter turn a traditional market into one of the hippest place in Jakarta today. The 2nd floor of the market turn into small shops selling vintage goodies, coffees, foods, etc.. This 3 foods stall I try yesterday. A green tea cream brûlée by Labrûlétory, batagor by Batagor Burangrang and grilled cheese sandwich with a cup of cold salted chocolate milk by Roti Eneng.

Gone were the days of the famous Longhouse food centre at Upper Thomson Road. Some of the hawker stalls are found here at a coffee shop in Jalan Besar. The western food stall still serve a good plate of grills at affordable prices.

The famous boneless braised duck from Lim Seng Lee Duck Rice Eating House in South Buona Vista Road was relocated to Sam Leong Road last August 2013. What used to be famous cannot relive it's glory now as the owners have changed hands. The taste hasn't changed much but I still prefer the former. The stall is located at Kim San Leng Eating House, 16 Sam Leong Road. It opens early from 9am and closes when sold out. If you missed their braised duck rice, you should really check them out soon.

Guess everyone has heard about He Zhong at Bukit Timah Food Centre by now. Crisp yet moist egg with soft carrot cake cubes; no wonder it is such a hit with the diners here!

Espresso frozen into ice cubes & diluted with cold milk. Perfect for hot days! Kudos to the person who thought of freezing espresso into ice cubes. Coffee's still strong even after the espresso cubes melted which is good cos no one likes diluted coffee.

There's nothing quite like the perfect crispy crackling to set off the succulent meat, but the pork belly was a little too gelatinous. Overall, still a good dish.

A good crust must made a simple and humble apple pie into something awesome... Love the flaky, all butter crust. Honestly, am pretty proud of this pie.
