i liked this so much better than their dumplings!! im usually not a big fan of egg noodles but this one was good! it didn't have the weird smell and the noodles were soft enough without losing its chewiness. the fried shallots rly provided a much needed crunch to the dish! preferred this to the miso mushroom noodles which honestly just tasted like bak chor mee :/ would also recommend their drinks!!! get the lunch set and longan osmanthus pu-erh. the dumplings are q oily so pretty smart of them to focus on tea for their drinks.
we got this as part of the lunch set ($16) that's why there are only four dumplings!! otherwise it's 5 for $8. saw that people liked this a lot but i was v underwhelmed when i tried it. the sauce that coated the dumpling at the bottom was interesting, the thickness of the skin was just nice. also tried the original dumplings and thought they were rather oily and tasteless. was actually q disappointed because i was expecting stuff like 饺子 but the dumplings were more like gyoza.
the balance of flavours is rly amazing! they r q generous w the salmon, and the saltiness of the salmon was neutralized by the pickled radish and zucchini. i usually pick out onions from my food but i made sure to finish every bit of them this time round bc they had this sweet, tangy taste and added a crunch to the toast!! thought the toast wouldn't b much but i ended up filling q full lol. the place had such a chill vibe and definitely going back to try their seed butter toast!
thought the truffle was an interesting addition and enjoyed it but other than that... the dish tasted pretty normal
the dish sounds so simple yet tastes so amazing :') i loved the thin apple slices which provided a crunchy texture within the smooth yoghurt!
they have a lot of interesting flavours like kaya and goma. got the dark forest, which is dark chocolate with morello cherries and brownie i think! i couldn't taste the cherries and the ice-cream was q sweet haha i would have preferred the chocolate flavour to be richer. but the handcrafted tart was really good!!! crispy at the edges but the centre was also slightly sweet. btw i tried the blackcurrant flavour which was rly good!!!
the last time i ate tempura was years ago bc i've been trying to eat healthy but boy totally worth ditching your diet for this!!! the batter wasn't coated too thickly (waste of calories!!!) but just enough so that you could still taste the crispy bits. and bc the coating was sufficient, when you take the first bite of the prawn, it felt so full so substance!!! im so excited just talking about it hahaha. the chicken was amazing too it was QQ and so juicy!!! everyone's raving about the seaweed but i felt that it was pretty normal... i guess it was really crispy haha but ok i have to admit i couldn't stop eating it and wanted more hehe. i think eating just the tempura itself can be really filling but if u want to eat it w the carbs, you can skip the enoki mushrooms and sweet potato; i didn't find them amazing. the soba was v annoying to eat bc it was so soft that the strands kept breaking and were rly short. but the soup was weirdly amazing!!! it's bland but went so well w the tendon!!! guess it helped to balance out the oil and spiciness. and omg the chilli was great!!!!! i got level 3 spiciness and initially i thought it wasn't that bad but the spiciness kicked in later. it was sweet and numb... felt like a good blend of terriyaki sauce and mala haha. yup, overall amazing bowl of tempura haha i love how you can't taste the oil of the dish or feel the oil swimming in you at all!!! also do you see the bean sprouts at the back??? they are amazing you need to try them!!! i noticed every table finished all their bean sprouts haha.
introduced my colleague to this stall yesterday and she was so pleased!!! mine's the bottom bowl haha doesn't look v appetising with all the green stuff but ir was so good!!! got my usual fried pumpkin and tried their fried eggplant this time. i thought it could have been cooked a bit longer because the inside wasn't the soft-mushy texture that i like. i never really liked tau pok until i tried the one from this stall so you've got to try this!!! the skin soaks up the soup, making it juicy, and when you bite into it the soup just oozes into your mouth. and the fish paste is so fresh and sweet and chewy :') plus point: they give a lot of noodles!
the pandan smell was so distinct omg so fragrant!!!! and the pancakes were so fluffy *_* topped with coconut ice-cream, this combination is a must-try!!!!
I'm not a huge fan of laksa but I'm in love with this dish haha. Typical laksa uses the white thick beehoon and the laksa gravy usually slides off the noodle so you taste the gravy and noodle separately. but for this dish, the laksa gravy coated the pasta so nicely; it wasn't too diluted or jelat!!! and the prawns were so fresh and juicy. got the smoked salmon lemon carbonara along with this because of burpple beyond 1-for-1 and it was just as nice, except the salmon wasn't really smoked lol.
wasn't planning to do a review for this visit bc I thought I was going to order the same thing but guess what, they changed their menu again :( idk why they would remove soba but sobs pls bring it back!!! and the salmon is now lemon-scented :/ got sweet potatoes instead, with mushrooms, sous-vide egg and pumpkins. the mushrooms were previously bland but yay there was more taste today. the lemon-scented salmon was lighter on the palate than the salmon previously and I prefer it that way haha makes you feel healthier. sweet potatoes were surprisingly yummy! thought they would be too hard but they were nice to bite into and you can slowly taste the sweetness. the egg wasn't runny this time... and perhaps they should start marinating the egg haha it's getting boring. and yay got free mushroom soup!!! remember the first time I got it, it was really salty but it was better today and really warmed my stomach :)
bought this using beyond so this only cost me around $4.50! so worth!!! $4.50 for a sandwich with everything that I have ever wanted in a bun *~* flowy lava egg (this is really everything that I have ever wanted; I have been searching forever for a bun with a lava egg in it that actually flows and could only find it in japan), tender chicken thigh, crunchy lettuce, soft bun which soaks up the sauce... help I want more now.
