Came across this newly revamped Thai eatery/restaurant along Mackenzie Road while driving. Roasted pork rice at $7.00, taste good with the green chilli. Not really crowded and parking is easy.
This is my second time here at 娟东记 located at Aperia Mall in Lavender. They have both ala carte and buffet ($21.80++ per adult pax) menu which offers a wide selection of food. Drinks are free flow and the meat are fresh esp the prawns and pork. Individual steamboat bowl would be served, which comes with a soup base of your choice.
Good for a rainy day meal if you are craving for a Chinese-style steamboat buffet at a budget price.
It's Duriannnn Seasonnnn in Sg/My.
We chanced upon this stall at 279 Balestier Point (right beside Balestier Road) and had Musang King (猫山王- $18/kg) and King of King (王中王- $20/kg). For the 2 types of durian tasted, we would prefer the Musang King as it has a sweeter aftertaste compared to the latter, which has a tinge of bitterness. Nevertheless both durians taste awesome and we shared 3 durians priced at $95 for 4 pax.
They have 2 different set meal (either brown rice or spaghetti) on that day we had our lunch. Heard from colleagues that the menu changes every day they do not really use flour in their vegetarian recipes. This is a good choice for health conscious individuals who are also vegetarian. This brown rice meal was filling for lunch and it doesn't feel too oily. Food priced at $7.
This is a small whole chicken topped up with Mediterranean style sauces with potato wedges and onion seasonings. Chicken tasted well with the condiments used. This is perhaps one of the European-style restaurant which serves healthier food that doesn't upset my stomach after the meal. They have vegetarian and gluten free options in their menu too. Priced at $25.80++.
Squids that are cooked just nice with Mediterranean flavouring which are different from the typical local cooking style (they have lots of spices and olive oil in their dishes). Good for sharing and priced at $29.80++.
This looks like Japanese Shishamo dish but they are actually sardines. Taste wise is decent with the lemon juices seasoned on the fishes. Perhaps I would still stick to Shishamos as the sardines bones are comparably stiffer and harder for me to swallow. Nevertheless you can give it a try as a side dish if you come with a larger group. Priced at $29.80++.
We have ordered a 1/2 serving which has a mix of fresh vegetables topped up with feta cheese which goes well with olive oil and the mix. Its an appetising starter especially for cheese lovers. Priced at $13.80++.
We feel that this stall sells the cheapest and most decent boat noodles. Ordered the big bowl for only $5 and this can definitely whet your appetite. We topped it up with boiled kang kong for an extra $2 and braised pork leg for $8. Not too bad if you want to have a local thai taste.
Priced at $5, this dessert taste very decent with a moderate combination of rose syrup and milk, topped up with red rubies and jackfruit slices. I would perhaps go for a second serving to satisfy my craving.
Nicely wrapped fragrant pad thai with omelette. A good main to serve 2 with sides. Priced at $8.90.
HK styled chee cheong fun to satisfy our craving after lunch. Priced at $2.50.
