This, by far is our most underrated Japanese izakaya. Prices are within the affordable range and their menus were all in Japanese until they realized that they should add in English translations for customers like us ๐ Uni, tamagoyaki, ikura and fresh thick slices of scallops, yellowtail, snapper, tuna, mackerel, octopus were overflowing the bowl. We had to share one bowl of chirashi as we also had the Mentaiko pasta (their portions are ๐๐ผ). We assure you that you wouldnโt be disappointed if youโre looking for an authentic Japanese restaurant in town.

Using healthier alternatives and abstaining from sugar, you can finally indulge in these pastries and cakes without feeling the guilt. Their current top seller is The Ultimate Fudge Cake ($8) which is made from sugar-free chocolate and the fudge is made from chocolate whey protein. Not your regular fudge cake, the sponge cake is made from chocolate brown rice protein. If you are on a strict low-sugar or some other diet, you can finally satisfy your sweet tooth with these nutritious treats. New on their menu is the Vegan Lemon Curd ($9) thatโs so sour that it will awaken your senses and give you a refreshing boost. Unlike the normal buttery crust, almond flour is used instead which results in a denser and nuttier texture. Not really my favorite kind of crust, but this will definitely appeal to the health enthusiasts.

Have wanted to try soul alife for a long time since they opened at chinatown, and today I chanced upon a stall at changi city point yay! The menu looks very inviting, with many options that i wanted to try but i decided to go ahead with the recommended buddha bowl ($10.50 inclusive of gst).
Truly eating the rainbow, i was initially hesistant to order this as ingredients like endamame, chickpeas were canned ingredients. But the gorgeous pink beetroot hummus really drew me in!
I applaud the effort placed into some ingredients, such as marinated tofu, tumeric cauliflower, and the sauteed mushrooms - these were flavourful on their own, and showed the consideration placed behind them. The star of the show however was the intensely flavoured beetroot hummus which was SO packed with flavour - and also the saving grace for the very disappointing wet tasteless quinoa.
Would recommend elevating some ingredients so that they are less "canned" eg: a citrus dressing for the chickpeas and endamame? And also seasoning for the quinoa omy it was only palatable because of the amazing beetroot hummus.
All in all, a very filling and satisfying meal with some hits and misses (: will gladly come to try the other dishes next time!

Read numerous rad reviews on this place and decided to check it out!! Was torn between salmon mentaiko and salmon sashimi, decided to go with the latter in the end because i heard about how fresh it was and am glad i did!! What i like about this salad option is the generous portion of veggies!! And there's an onsen egg add-on for just $1! (Many places charge at least $1.50 or even more ๐ค for one egg really) although portions of sashimi and avocado are small, the shoyu garlic sauce really made up for it! It was deliciously sweet and salty and really tied the dish tgt. I didn't even need soya sauce for the sashimi. Altogether a pretty cheap eat for the price! Will be back again to try MENTAIKOOO cause they were flaming it on the spot and it really smelled good heheh
Pleasantly surprised by the quality of their desserts. The Lemon Curd Tart was mouth-puckeringly delicious and beautifully balanced, as was the moist Carrot Cake, slathered with citrusy cream cheese and generously studded with nuts and fruit.
But the one that excels them all, is none other than the Matcha Milk Pie. Its robust, earthy matcha fragrance instantly arrests your tastebuds when you sink your teeth into it, the pleasure further amplified by the buttery tart and creme fraiche. Matcha lovers, be sure not to miss this!
