the broth is good on its own. but it levels up the beehoon by allowing it to soak in all of the goodness. ingredients are generous too. shrimps and sotong. egg with the beautiful yolk was an add-on.

i can't taste the brown sugar in the brown sugar red bean flavoured one. just red bean paste. very similar to the red bean paste dessert we usually get at chinese restaurants. the preserved veg one just did not work for me. same goes to the spicy beef which just reminds me of the canned bak tng.

we got both a dry version and a soup version to share and try. added on a century egg tofu.

i liked the appetiser. no skimping of the century egg portion. by having every spoonful of tofu with some century egg, it was definitely enough to go around. the cold and refreshing tofu with the flavour-packed century egg made a wonderful combination. a must-order for century egg lovers.

and now onto the stars of the meal. i loved the soup version cos the broth tasted more gao to me. the noodles were too soft for me though. with the dry version, u get a medley of condiments with the sauce but somehow it tasted bland. however, that gave me a chance to add their chilli in and it really did bring the noodles to another level which i really did enjoy. and the good thing about the dry version; the noodles had a really good and hard texture which i personally like. -
another gripe was that the prawns were not cleaned properly. all of the prawns still had the line of junk on their spine which i had to remove myself. kopitiams and food courts, i will be alright since the price point is there but this is a full fledged restaurant.

this dish suits me if the condiments are spammed. too dry i cannot. so since she let me dictate how much to whack, i had a very enjoyable meal. chicken was soft with a good bite. rice was not clumpy at all. the 锅巴 was very tempting but they were too charred for us. and so we had to pang seh most of them.

made a booking thru quandoo but it was a misrepresentation by quandoo. the owner of the establishment was kind enough to apologize for a mistake which was not theirs to begin with. so without any reservation, we waited around 45min.

we ordered a bowl of noodles each and 4 different types of dumplings to share; the original, the truffle potato cheese, the smoked duck and the chilli oil one. forgot their original names. my bad. lol.

a common trait among the pan fried dumplings was the crispy skin. my favourite was the potato cheese one. this fusion item was bursting with flavours. savoury and rich. sibei shiok.

coming in a close second was the smoked duck. reminds me of abit of peking duck and you guys know my love for this dish. for the original, the vinegar was essential for me.

a fuss-free eatery where the menu is simple with just a few dishes. and they nailed these few dishes. service was prompt and fellow patrons were considerate to not horde the seats after finishing the meal. a very nice community. both staff and customers.

with oat-based milk as its base, good old yam puree is then added and the mixture is blended nicely together. top it off with a scoop of taro q and we have a beverage that screams "yam, taro, orh".

the yam puree itself is very flavourful and you won't have to search high and low for the taste. what i like about this drink are the yam bits that i can actually bite into and chew. instead of the usual black pearls, we now have the chewy taro q which feels alot more healthier so no need to feel guilty ordering the large cup now.

while waiting for your order, you can see how generous liho staff is in scooping up amounts of the yam puree for your drink. this tasting was done at liho's relatively new outlet at suntec basement, so no matter where u are in suntec, there's always an outlet near you.

the meringue on the tart was too sweet for us. i liked the dessert without the meringue. would have loved it if the citrus-y flavour was on a higher level. 😂

strawberry shortcake was like hard. cake was it fluffy at all. maybe it has been in the chiller for an extended period of time but the strawberries were nice and not too sour.

chocolate soufflé was good because dark chocolate was used so it kind of balanced the other two treats we had earlier on. the dark chocolate ice cream was a nice touch to the soufflé. it kept us going whenever the soufflé itself got too gao for us.

ordered a pork chop and fish and chips. not to my liking at all. pork chop was tough and the marinade did not suit my taste buds. fish and chips was better with the crispy batter and flaky meat. the home made tartar sauce was a plus point.

sesame street consists of black sesame paste, coconut cream, ginger pandan syrup and vodka. the creamy texture coupled with the nutty taste from the concoction proves to be a crowd favourite.

kopi-o-fashioned has coffee infused scotch, cardamom bitters, maple syrup with a guinness stout reduction foam. served with old school gem biscuits. everything comes together to form a new caffeine addiction that can easily replace the fix we need.

rest my case is primarily grapefruit based with mezcal reposado, campari and infused punt e mes. i like the grapefruit portion.

beauty in a cup is made up of chrysanthemum infused gin, orange bitters and the beauty syrup which is a gelatin-like component made from snow fungus. loved this for the chrysanthemum and gin.

spice my monkey up has scotch, lemon, honey syrup topped with a ginger beer foam. not my thing but its one of the most popular drinks there.

and finally the unusual wake up call does have some unusual ingredients such as the chilli padi alongside gin and lime juice. very interesting drink. refreshing with the lime and chilli padi.

for alcohol noobs like me, i would most certainly recommend the sesame street and kopi-o-fashioned. these two are the most noob friendly and you can enjoy them without breaking a sweat. beauty in a cup and unusual wake up call would be my recommendations for the next level up.

got a ondeh ondeh waffles with coconut ice cream, churros waffles with vanilla ice cream and two scoops of salted caramel and earl grey just to taste.

presentation was most certainly wow. but other than the gula melaka sauce, i did not taste any pandan in the waffle or any coconut in the ice cream for the ondeh ondeh. same goes for the salted caramel ice cream too. but the waffle was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside which saved part of the dish for me. -
there was a faint scent of earl grey in the single scoop we had. churros waffles was quite straightforward but the vanilla ice cream was bland too. no fragrance of the vanilla beans.

sorry fans. the flavours here just did not work for me. and the price point is not exactly attractive too. being here only made me appreciate the coconut ice cream from daily scoop even more.

kanpachi truffle. the truffle aroma was not too heavy so i was able to down this appetiser easily. for sashimi, we got salmon and shimaji. fresh. and that's enough for me.

otoro sushi cos the sashimi version was over our budget. i'm not an otoro person but this piece of fish literally melted/dissolved/disintegrated in my mouth. mentaiko prawn for a heavier taste after all the raw food. as long as the mentaiko is not overly salty, it works for me and it did.

cold soba so we can at least act abit healthy while savouring the wagyu steak. steak was good on its own. sauce was a tad overwhelming for me.

asari soup with sake for a light finish to the meal. very sweet and refreshing. clams were plump and substantial. tamagoyaki and edadame as fillers for the remainder of the bill.

the sashimi and asari soup worked best for me. and the passionate chef with his friendly personality and fantastic display of skills was the cherry on top for this already wonderful dining experience.

loved the scrambled egg. creamy and substantial. bacon was the hard version. i personally prefer the soft version with the sinful melty fats.
