Choco banana pancake 13.2++ Average. Pancake was a little bit dry, flavours were lacking

Banana pancake stack One of the more consistent and affordable pancakes in town . Forget those flat and inconsistent and expensive ones from cafes - go for the real deal . Ask for your pancakes to be “ cooked well” if you prefer an American style pancake as opposed to a soufflé style ( which is a little wet inside ).

What We Love
  • Minimal indoor seating that faces the kitchen, nice alfresco space with potted plants
  • Chilling with friends over Italian-inspired classics
  • Dashi Risotto, Tom Kha Capellini, Brown Sugar Cheesecake
Chicken Breast The chicken breast ($17++) comes with buttered corn, mushrooms, potato skins milk mash. The chicken breast is moist and tender but a tad too salty.

Dashi Risotto 💵: $21 📈: 9.5/10 🤔: 24 hours since I had this and I'm still thinking about it because it was THAT good. -0.5 because it was a tad bit pricey for the small portion, but definitely made affordable with beyond. Fried enoki mushrooms not only added a nice crunch but also great flavour.

Tom Kha Capellini 💵: $19 📈: 7/10 🤔: Would be better if the dish was served hotter, but it might also be because of the capellini's inability to retain heat. The shrimp paste was bouncy and shrimp floss added to the light tom yum flavour, pretty good dish overall!

Raspberry Campari Cake $15.8 Chalk Farm is famous for their gorgeous (and expensive) cakes, but this sponge cake literally takes take the cake when it comes to price. What you get in an admittedly generous slice, is a moist, fluffy sponge cake stained through with sweetness of jammy raspberry and an undertone of pleasing bitterness from the Campari. The cream frosting is indulgent yet light, and the garnish of forest berries and rosemary sprigs add a layer of freshness that's quite welcome. Taste: 3.5/5

Dark Chocolate Olive Oil Cake This is their chocolate cake. The pic looks ugly because I kept this cake overnight and dug it out to take a pic. But I gotta admit this cake is good. Even though it has been kept overnight, it's still so moist and rich. Really a treat but do be aware that is oily. Do share it with another person.

Decent Steak! Third time here and finally trying the classic Striploin Steak ($18). Was pleasantly surprised with how the beef was tender and easy to chew! Ordered a medium rare, while my dad who always goes for a medium well mentioned how it’s a bit hard at that doneness. So choose to your preferences friends! The dish was accompanied with a smooth truffle mash and veges that went well altogether. Went for the garlic sauce that paired well with the steak! You get to choose between mushroom, garlic and black pepper sauce. Definitely go for the steak if you are visiting Meathouse, previously tried the Joper Oven Steak with Pasta and the cooking method made the beef tough which wasn’t to my liking.

Truffle Mushroom Pasta ($15) For $15, the pasta came with a side and drink. Though there was an aroma of truffle that wifted through the air while mixing the pasta, the truffle taste was rather elusive. Overall it felt more like a regular mushroom cream pasta dish that was dry and rather jelak.

Liu Sha Bao ($6) This was quite yummy! The liushabao is baked, so it has that sweet, slightly crisp crust (like the ones from timhowan & canton paradise). The liusha filling is molten and threatens to spill out with each bite, and the consistency & flavour was quite nice to me - it’s sweet and buttery and thick and slightly grainy (I am partial to both grainy / smooth liushas). It’s a bit big, and a tad sweet bc of the top sugar crust, but it’s good and I would order this again!

Do You Know the Muffin Man? Can't tag the Tanjong Pagar branch where I bought this from. You'd be hit with a wave of nostalgia as you savour the muffins here. My favourite is the banana walnut [$1.30] among their wide variety including double chocolate, chocolate chip, blueberry etc, due to the generous walnuts and banana chunks. Shiok! 🥧

Walnut And Chestnut Bread Cheap thrill of the day: $0.5 off for this big loaf of bread. Nice crunch from the walnut and sweetness from the chestnut complements the bread quite well. Good to toast the bread beforehand for the warm and slightly crispy bread edge.
