the scallops were p soft and slightly springy! the portion of orzo was so small... but at least it was rly creamy. and the grated parmigiano reggiano added a nice cheesy touch🤤

the 𝙒𝙖𝙜𝙮𝙪 𝘾𝙖𝙧𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙞𝙤 was ok, but the wagyu was kinda tougher than expected. not the melt in your mouth kind of wagyu

the 𝘽𝙡𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙎𝙞𝙡𝙠𝙞𝙚 𝙋𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙚𝙩 was tender and nicely seasoned, but was p average. perhaps the highlight of the dish was the eggy bearnaise sauce 🤧

we adored the 𝙐𝙜𝙡𝙮 𝙏𝙧𝙪𝙛𝙛𝙡𝙚 𝙄𝙙𝙖𝙝𝙤 𝙋𝙤𝙩𝙖𝙩𝙤, which was deeply infused with truffle oil, and remained super crisp! looks kinda burnt but it was gooddd.

the 𝙊𝙘𝙩𝙤𝙥𝙪𝙨 “𝙏𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙘𝙪𝙡𝙚𝙨 𝙙𝙚 𝙋𝙤𝙪𝙡𝙥𝙚” was nicely charred and had a smoky aftertaste🤩the pairing of the smashed sweet potato was quite unexpected but interesting!

the list of shots to choose from was DIZZYING but also electrifying and exciting! got the peachy drop shots, werther’s original, cookie monster and sweet home albama, with truffle fries and popcorn chicken. everything cost around $70 with two burpple beyond deals redeemed

battling a long queue during peak hours, we were pretty excited when we first saw the highly-raved 𝙈𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙠𝙤 𝙎𝙖𝙡𝙢𝙤𝙣 [$10] bowl!
what really impressed me was the thickness of the salmon fillet, and just how juicy it was! i'm not the biggest fan of cooked salmon (i prefer mine raw) but this one hit different 😩 it was lightly-cooked, such that it was slightly pink on the inside and really tender 😍 AND THE MENTAIKO MAYO WAS SO CREAMY I LUV
of course, the most unique feature of the bowl was definitely the butterfly pea-cooked rice (it's not every day i get to eat blue rice), which supposedly has multiple health benefits. it boasts a vivid blue color, but doesn't taste thaaaat different from regular rice if you're wondering. it was okay, although it fell a little on the mushy side.
🍙 overall: would i get it again? maybe, but probably just for the salmon! but i would say it was a pretty interesting experience heh. in the middle of amoy food street where it's nestled among many other food stalls, it's easy to miss it, but i think it's worth one try

🍴Brekkie of Champions ($24.50)

Another Burpventure (#burpple adventure HAHAHAHA) to Toby's Estate! If not for the top-tier vibes exuded by the high ceilings, earthy tones, the fragrant coffee aroma and the location right beside the river, I'm sure we would have felt even more disappointed. The Brekkie of Champions did not make me feel like a champion: the poached eggs, although perfect and runny, were unseasoned and bland despite the sweet and fluffy brioche that soaked up everything. The main strengths of the dish were the bright, juicy cherry tomatoes: they burst so beautifully on my tongue and were so so sweet - seriously one of the best cherry tomatoes I've had in my life!

🍴Black Milk Tea with Panna Cotta ($7.50), Strawberry Latte with Panna Cotta ($8.50)

Welcome to the bubble tea brand endorsed by the one-and-only Jay Chou! With the #burpple 1-for-1 deal, the drinks come up to about $3 per person, which I felt was pretty affordable if you’d like to try something new. I had the Black Milk Tea with Panna Cotta, which had the deep, authentic aroma of black tea that is not found in conventional milk tea brands. I enjoyed the milky and creamy panna cotta, which melted beautifully in my mouth and contrasted well with the slight bitterness of the black milk tea. My friend’s Strawberry Latte with Panna Cotta was smooth and velvety, with a natural sweetness from the fresh strawberries – a must-try for those with a sweet tooth.

I was also extremely charmed by the adorable aesthetic of the store and their cute mascot printed on the bottles! Nonetheless, since the drink is too heavy and jelak to finish in one sitting, it was a little troublesome to manage the bottle with the straw, which cannot fit into a capped bottle but was necessary to access the panna cotta at the bottom of the bottle. Moreover, it is pretty expensive without the Burpple deal. Overall, I still think it’s a super cute place and encourage you to drop by!

i don’t think i’ve ever found another place that sells quality japanese food at such a good price before! i had the 𝙆𝙖𝙯𝙤𝙠𝙪 𝘿𝙤𝙣 [$12.9] — the portion was great, and the sashimi was fresh too! each slice was not exactly the thickest but reasonably thick for its price point 👍🏻 however, kazoku shares a common space with other stalls as well, so the area can get pretty crowded and loud, but it shouldn’t be too much of an issue.
