Excellent sorbet. It was really dark and chocolatey which hits right up my alley! Even though there is no dairy I didn't feel like anything was missing from it, and it still gave a very bodied taste. 10/10 would recommend and visit again.
$5 for 2 small cups (Burpple Beyond)
Read about this place on a food review blog so decided to give it a try. Used the entertainer 1 for 1 so it was about 25 bucks for 2 pastas. I was not impressed at all, the uni did not really shine, so it seemed like a sweetened cream pasta with a weird after taste. Maybe I am biased or old school but covering the pasta with sauce and blow torching it is a tad pretentious as well. The balance of the flavours could be worked better, for example with less sauce in the pasta, incorporating the sauce as opposed to slathering it over (the pasta inside had no sauce), and balancing the sweetness with the cream more salty elements.
Bought this using the Burpple Beyond 1 for 1 making it a total of 2 for 18 bucks. The dish really works very well, with the bacon seasoning the tortellini and the flavour of the rendered bacon fat bringing the entire dish together. Could be improved however, because there was too much bacon oil and I cant believe I am saying this but too much bacon. Perhaps the balance could be worked on. However overall a very very strong dish which I would recommend and go again.
Bought this using Burpple Beyond's 1 for 1, so it was around 18 bucks for 2 plates. Wow. Perfectly balanced, well seasoned, pasta al dente and sauce was of the right consistency. One of the most enjoyable pastas I had, and definitely the most worth it at its price point (where else will you get such high quality tortellini for less than 10 bucks?). Only gripe is perhaps that the pasta was not finished in the sauce so the sauce was not really incorporated into the pasta, but dude that's so minor...
Quite a famous stall with many positive reviews. Would agree with them, the soup is light enough to drink on its own, but thick enough to marry with the noodles, which is something I always look for in curry chicken noodles. There is a nutty flavour in the soup that I did not like at first, but after half the bowl really grew on me. Definitely in the top tier of curry chicken noodles.
Bought this with Burpple Beyond 1 for 1, which makes this an affordable 2 dishes for 10 dollars. Heard good things about this place and I'm glad they lived up to the hype. It was fried well and seasoned beautifully with the typical Taiwanese popcorn chicken seasoning (most likely with msg, 五香粉, pepper), to give a nice umami kick!
This is a new product I assume only for a limited period of time. The cheese sauce goes well with the tomato sauce, giving something similar to chilli beef fries. Quite nice imo. The original cheese fries seems to fit better together though.
Blanco Court prawn mee has always been in the running for best prawn mee in Singapore. Came in with high expectations and it didn't disappoint. The soup was umami enough with the prawn stock and they definitely used a good amount of pork giving the soup a certain bit of sweetness. The prawns were relatively big even though I did not get the upgraded prawns. Would come again.
Mui Kee was brought to Singapore by the Les Amis group. The original outlet is a famous congee shop in Hong Kong. They are famous for their fish porridge, but I got the pork Innards porridge. High quality porridge with lots of flavour. However, it could have been a bit thicker.
New outlet for Tai Cheong Bakery at Square 2 Novena. Quality is consistent compared to other outlets. Their crust tastes like it is made of real butter without the cheap taste of vegetable shortening commonly seen. Very nice and smooth filling as well.
