New Year! 13 Jan is the Russian New Year, and we spent it at a russian-owned art gallery, complete with copious amt of Kremlin vodka. And here's a traditional way to down ur shot - roll strawberry in sugar, then spicy hot paprika. Tried cooking with beef shin instead of the usual oxtail - same price, double the amount! Not the best success admittedly - after cooking the shin in the oven for 1 hr and 45 mins, the meat was still not tender (found out later it requires about 3 hours in the oven for the sinews to break down completely). Popped the remainder onto the stovetop for continued cooking; these will be supper portions over the week (nigella lawson says these can stay up to 3 mths in the freezer). #beef #beefstew #beefshin #wine #winedish #sgfoodie #burpple #hgw

queued up for an hour at hai kee teochew char kway teow at telok blangah 01-102 for more than an hour without complaining. the queue is twice the length as in the pix - cannot wait to taste how good it js!
