Good news for all 𝐉𝐢 𝐗𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐀𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐮 𝐊𝐮𝐞𝐡’s fans, the younger son of the founder had recently open an outlet in the East! Their new outlet is at Bugis Village, facing the bus stop and main road so you won’t missed it. Do note, they are open daily 10am-5pm, except Mondays and for now, there’s only 3 classic flavours available, Peanut, Salted Bean & Sweet Bean all priced the same for $1 each. The boss told us that more flavours will be coming soon, stay tuned. We bought a box of 8pcs and it fits nicely, not squashed. Ang Ku Kueh is the same as Everton main outlet, super thin skin, stuffed generously with ingredients. Perfect for tea-time, with a cup of hot tea! Super comforting, and indeed one of the best Ang Ku Kueh out there! ⠀

Pipping hot, soft, smooth rice rolls tossed in some sweet sauce, sesame peanut sauce, topped with (Li Nanxing) Dry Scallop Hae Bee Hiam was the best combo! If you are not aware, Serangoon Garden Food Centre is undergoing 3 months renovation from today 1 March 2021, and will reopen after 31 May 2021! Yesterday we managed to pull ourselves out of bed early to drop by and enjoy the food there before they are closed. We were lucky as they still have a whole round cake of butter cake (10pcs) for $9! We really loves their breads & cakes as it’s super duper fragrant. Their butter cake is like marble cake, there’s swirls in the cake and it has a nostalgic old school smell which is so irresistible every time we open the cake box! Butter cake is so soft, fluffy and we couldn’t stop at one! Best eaten with a cup of hot tea or coffee anytime of the day. Can’t wait for 3 months to pass by quickly so we can drop by for more to ease our cravings. ⠀

Time flies and it’s already the 15th day of Lunar New Year! The 15th day marks the last day and we also called it 元宵节. Last 3 days till Sunday, 28 Feb to enjoy the yearly Lo Hei and today we decided to order Lo Hei from 𝙎𝙤𝙪𝙥 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙖𝙪𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙩! It’s comes in 3 sizes, small $39.90, medium $49.90 & large $59.90. Small size comes with 10 mini abalones that’s juicy and sweet! Another yummy Lo Hei that we enjoys, vegetables were thinly shredded, texture and flavours were all good!⠀

Feeling sad to hear the recent news outbreak of demolishing both Tanglin Halt Food Centre & Tanglin Halt Market by end of year 2021. This also means goodbye to lots of nostalgia stalls selling mouthwatering and passed down generations foods. There are many stalls that made it to the list, duck noodles, peanut pancake that open as early as 3.30am, Laksa & many more.. ⠀

One of our fav stalls is 𝗪𝗲𝗶 𝗬𝗶 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝘀𝗮 & 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗻 𝗡𝗼𝗼𝗱𝗹𝗲 唯一辣沙, they open as early as 5.30am, only open 4 days a week and they sell till sold out, or around 12.30pm. Be prepare to join a snaking long queue when you arrive, but it’s truly worth it! There are many different combinations you can choose from, starting from $4 a bowl. We had the all-in-1, Chicken, Prawn, Cockles, Fried Beancurd for $5. Laksa gravy is enticing with bright and beautiful color, and tasted delicious! Comes with fresh & generous portions of ingredients in it too! Not sure if they will move to other hawkers, meanwhile do drop by and enjoy a bowl of irresistible laksa before the market is demolished. ⠀

For those who have been following us, you would have noticed our number 1 favourite Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee is non other than Hainan Hokkien Mee located in Golden Mile Food Centre. It’s the dry style with thin Bee Hoon and fried to a strong wok-hei taste! Ever since Golden Mile Food Centre undergo renovation, we are glad that we can still ease our craving with their son’s stall selling the same style of dry Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee. I must say, it tasted relatively close and comparable to his father stall in Golden Mile Centre, and we are satisfied! The difference is they served small bits of Fried Pork Lard on the side and they have more variations to choose from.⠀

With the Chinese traditional, we usually have Lo Hei during 15 days of CNY. We went for our yearly must-have, 𝐉𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐨 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝’s Prosperity Salmon ‘Yu Sheng’ and it was still as yummy! But with the mask on, no talking while tossing, the atmosphere feels so much quieter and awkward. Nevertheless, if you are a huge fan of ‘Yu Sheng’, we would highly recommend you 𝐉𝐮𝐦𝐛𝐨 𝐒𝐞𝐚𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐝’s as this is our favourite and must-have every year! ⠀

We were googling around for nice gelato to ease on cravings on such a hot scorching day and we came across 𝐆𝐞𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐫𝐲 on the search! Upon arrival we were greeted with a small little cosy shop serving a wide range of Gelato with a couple of small tables for you to dine-in comfortably. There’s a wide range of regular flavours and premium flavours, do note that premium flavours has an additional of $0.70/scoop. We chose 2 of their signature flavours, Earl Grey Tie Guan Yin & Pistachio 🍨. Amazingly both taste super shiok and refreshing. Earl Grey Tie Guan Yin sounds very weird but it’s a good combination, it has nice earl grey flavours with a mild hint of Tie Guan Yin taste and its so refreshing. Pistachio was totally on point and it even includes small bits of pistachios in it too! It was so comforting and satisfying and we can’t wait to be back again for more! ⠀

Loves their dry version with egg noodles tossed in ketchup together with their homemade chilli sauce, generous servings of charcoal charred char siew, homemade wantan and crispy pork lard! Their egg noodles is very silky and springy, taste so super good even when we tapao it back home to eat, it doesn’t turn soggy at all! Charcoal grilled charred char siew was da bomb, super flavourful, smoky and super tender juicy, not dry at all. Wantan mee can be found everywhere but its not easy to find good ones, 𝐊𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐠’𝐬 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐧 𝐌𝐞𝐞 is definitely on our top list and we would highly recommend you to go try it if you hadn’t, you will surely get hooked to it like us too!⠀

𝐓𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐞𝐞 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧 𝐑𝐢𝐜𝐞 東記雞飯 is a relatively popular chicken rice stall in Tanglin Halt Food Centre if you are a die hard chicken rice fan. Although they are at the back facing, you won’t missed them as there’s constantly a long snaking queue in front of their stall. They only sells roasted chicken and have 3 prices to choose from, $3, $4, $5. We ordered the $4 and the meat portion were pretty generous. Roasted chicken is very tender and juicy, although it looks chunky. And there’s isn’t a layer of fats underneath the chicken skin. Rice is very fragrant, not too greasy and texture is just perfect for our liking! They also give us a separate small bowl of special thick sweet sauce for dipping the chicken wow it’s so flavourful and add a different taste to it! I heard that they are usually sold out by 2pm on weekends so do plan to drop by earlier to avoid disappointment. ⠀
