Since the chef does Korean/Japanese/American fusion food, we tried the tuna tartare tacos which was kinda meh... Nothing particularly spectacular about the taste, but it was an interesting dish with the taco shells made out of yam. We ordered the seasoned king size beef ribs, hanging tender and pork belly for the charcoal BBQ, spicy cold noodles (bibim naengmyeon) and soybean stew (doenjang jigae). I rly liked our meat choices! Both the seasoned beef ribs and the hanging tender were really tender and flavourful and I think the staff cooked the meats quite well! I really liked my bibim naengmyeon too, which was sweet and refreshing (not spicy!). Steamed egg was good too, and I liked the little trays that we each got for our sauce and side dishes and as a side plate. Thumbs up for this branch!! I quite liked the Mr Bean which my friend ordered! Sweet and really tasted like Laoban 老伴 tauhuay?! There were toasted breadsticks for you to dip into the kaya too, which is a good concept. Would def order that the next time I'm here. The gin was good too, but didn't taste very special. I did like the tinge of sweetness from the raspberry and orange though. Went back to Kuro Maguro with my friends and decided to get two mini dons for variety since I couldn't decide and I always wanted to try their anago but still wanted the ootoro. So the option of mini dons was definitely a plus. Filling AND cheaper than having a normal bowl! I still prefer the ootoro though, whether aburi or sashimi. This sandwich deli is tucked in a convenience store at the basement of The Sail at One Raffles Quay and they open till 10:30pm, great for the days when you just can't run out at 7 for a quick takeaway and by 8:45pm almost everywhere is closed. My favourite is the grilled chicken sandwich on focaccia or ciabatta bread (yes you get to choose your choice of bread) which is yummy and filling but cheap enough ($6.50) for me to get a cup of yoghurt as dessert! We also ordered their bulgogi beef and soondubu jigae (soft tofu stew) set. I actually contemplated whether to post this up because I wasn't particularly awed by this meal - the bulgogi didn't taste like bulgogi because of the many vegetables and I didn't like that even though it was on a hot plate the onions and vegetables that came with the tteok galbi and the bulgogi weren't exactly cooked. The seafood pancake was good but not much seafood. That said, this is a place known for their soondubu jigae (given the name) which was indeed good. And tteok galbi isn't often seen on menus here in Singapore but it was soft and flavourful. Their kimchi was good too. Price wise, well, I would recommend going for the set which is very worth it at $26 and up for one meat dish, one soup and rice.
