I came by for supper as I remember eating here years back. Here were some of the hits and misses for me.
Hits: Custard buns here have salted egg yolk flavor and are runny and good. Also the Wanton Spinach Noodle I had was delicious as well, as the wantons were deeply fried till fragrant, served crispy. Noodles were perfect al-dente.
Misses: Xiao Long Bao unfortunately is low on the list. I wouldn't even recommend it if you were having a xlb craving.
We actually visited this place with intention to use the Burpple Beyond 3 course meal deal. But upon reading reviews, decided to order a-la-carte instead, as the appetiser was very small in portion anyway and we don't drink beer.
We ordered the Black Angus Beef Sukiyaki donburis, and topped up to a set with large chicken and sashimi. I also had my don with a foie gras top-up. The beef is well-marinated and seared, sweet and crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. Onsen egg and Mentaiko lived up to expectations but the foie gras did not as it lacked flavor and was rather watery in texture. The portions however are on the smaller end for its price point. Sides were good but nothing spectacular, and sashimi slices were a tad small. I also had green tea and it was a tea packet served in hot water, and it was cheap tea.
Overall, I think this place is good for a quick work lunch but perhaps not somewhere I would travel to just for dinner.

Served with shaved ice and very refreshing! Their cocktails and in particular mojitos and margaritas are extremely popular. Almost everyone orders it. I actually can't remember what this one was so I'm saving it here for future reference when I want to order it again.
It doesn't look like much whole when it is served so here's a photo of it cut in half. This is $16 and was my first time trying chimichanga. I ordered it as I was curious, especially since the eatery is named after this dish.
The chimichanga was smaller than I thought and felt like it wouldn't be a filling main course meal, and I was right. The dish is overall quite messy to eat as it was hard to cut up, and everything was falling over so not a good first-date dish for sure. The wrap was well-fried and crispy but the contents altogether lacked layers and felt mushy and not that satisfying. Maybe that's how it's supposed to be! But I personally wouldn't order this one again as I'd much rather have their Ancho Beef Nachos any day!
They are a small eatery with few tables, so be sure to book online before making your way down. If you are driving, go early as parking in Little India is usually a nightmare. Service is inconsistent as some staff can be rude but some polite. Food is generally quite good, and their cocktails, specifically margaritas/ mojitos, are super refreshing and a must-order.
We had fish tacos, chicken quesadilla and pulled beef nachos. They are all good in their own way but also could be better, and I don't see them becoming my staple Mexican fare for that reason, as well as the inaccessibility of the location but I would crave their food once in awhile! I think they have a very unique way of preparing the same Mexican dishes you can have elsewhere, which is what makes me come back.
Borracho Fish Tacos ($14): I love the fish. It is super just-out-the-wok crispy, yet light and almost melt-in-your-mouth at the same time. If I could describe fried food as fresh, this would be it. The tangy dressing drizzled also complements it perfectly. My only issue with this dish is the soggy soft shell tacos. It does this dish so much injustice and would be FAR better in hard shell tacos but you don't get a choice here.
Chipotle Chicken Quesadilla ($14): Their Quesadilla is pretty good; crispy and tasty enough. But I recommend eating it as a sharing dish as this does get boring quickly as a main course, perhaps due to lack of texture and sharp flavors. The good thing however is that it is consistent!
Loaded Nachos with Ancho Beef ($16): Generous with the beef servings. And their pulled beef is good and satisfying to eat with nachos. Just feel like this dish could be even better if the nachos used were thicker and not as crisp-like. But it's still not too bad! I do enjoy this one overall.
We did finish off with Golden Churros ($8) which was nothing to shout about. I wish I didn't order it as it made my dinner a little worse, so skip this one.
Guzman is my go-to when I want Mexican as it's highly accessible!
Hits: For tacos, order Barramundi in hard shell tacos with spice. The contrast of soft fish and the crunch of hard tacos is unbeatable. For Quesadilla, pulled pork never goes wrong for me. It is extremely tasty and their Quesadilla can be slightly inconsistent but if you're lucky it would be crispy that day. Coffee is only $2 and great but expect only a lungo size.
Misses: I tried their nachos and churros the other day and they were the best. Nachos were too light and were more like crisps. Churros weren't chewy enough. But overall alright if you are craving either!
This was really good. Pork is well-marinated, sweet and fragrant, while the meat is tender. Service is quite decent and the place feels clean. It is slightly cold as it was quiet when I visited. Would come back if I'm craving Korean BBQ, it's one of the better ones I've had!
Army stew was full of ingredients; lots of sausage and ham that we couldn't finish. Pot was a bit shallow though, I wish there was more soup! Overall 7.5/10 for flavor and portions.
Had heard about Don Godzilla at Blk 1 Tanjong Pagar Plaza for a while — wanted to make a visit here but hadn’t manage to do so until fairly recently. Taking over the former premises of House of Chicken Rice, Don Godzilla is a concept by the same folks behind Chirashi King Kong, which also occupies the neighbouring unit here. Decked in the usual quirky decor theme that King Kong Chirashi is adorned with, the interior design theme of Don Godzilla can be said as largely functional whilst being a little bit eclectic — the space does feature some military camo-style wallpapers with wood-esquire walls; all that with Godzilla making an appearance in the form of a bust and statue throughout the space. Chirashi King Kong is best known for their truffle rice, and Don Godzilla stays true to that theme — whilst Chirashi King Kong focuses more on Japanese Donburi that features sashimi/seafood components, Don Godzilla’s offerings features Donburi and Bento Set featuring cooked elements; think items such as Gyu Beef Don, Salmon Teriyaki Don and Curry Ebi Don all featuring their signature truffle rice. Their signature items here seems to be the various forms of chicken rice (i.e. Godzilla Truffle Chicken Rice, Godzilla Truffle Chicken Bento Set and the Signature Chicken Rice) offered; all of which also featuring their truffle rice, and seems to be paying homage to the space being formerly occupied by a chicken rice store.
Going for the Godzilla Truffle Chicken Bento Set, the bento set features elements such as chicken, tofu and lava egg all served with truffle rice. On first look, the truffle rice here does bear some resemblance to the ones served at Chirashi King Kong — topped off with some Japanese pickles, the rice does comes with speckles of Furikake mixed into it. That being said, instead of the usual short-grain pearl rice that often comes with the Donburi served at Chirashi King Kong, the Godzilla Truffle Chicken Bento Set comes with regular rice grains that are typically served with the usual renditions of Hainanese chicken rice. As a result, the first few spoonfuls of rice does come with a pretty strong whiff of truffle aroma just as per one would have expected with the truffle rice from Chirashi King Kong, though the slightly ginger-ly taste of Hainanese chicken rice does become slightly more prominent after a while. Steamed chicken is the only choice of chicken that comes with all the chicken rice options available at Don Godzilla — served with a light soy sauce, the chicken has also been deboned here for the convenience of the patrons; we liked how tender the meat here is, while it is also savoury especially since the meat absorbed the flavours of the soy sauce beneath. The steamed chicken also does come topped with bonito flakes — perhaps to include a slight Japanese touch for a modern take since this is coming out of a Donburi specialty store. The lava egg also did not disappoint here — essentially a marinated egg, the egg whites are soft, while the yolk remains molten; quite a crowd pleaser. That being said, the real stand out to us here is the slab of tofu — done in the style of an Agedashi Tofu, the tofu was silken and smooth on the inside, yet crisp with that thin golden brown batter on the outside; the consistency being so well-done that it surpasses that of some zichar establishments serving the same dish. The sauce served atop the tofu provides for a savoury flavour that also made the tofu pretty appetising as well. The chili that accompanies the bento set is the usual sort that would usually come with Hainanese chicken rice; theirs being a rendition that is especially fiery and would tickle the taste buds even for those who are tolerable to moderate levels of spiciness. That being said, this was one rendition of chicken rice that we thought that has to be enjoyed with all of the elements separate from each other — the truffle rice being much of the culprit here as the other elements would easily run into the aroma of truffle when had together with the truffle rice, while having a little of everything by its own before having the truffle rice again does also reset the flavours for the truffle rice considering how the truffle-y notes tend to turn less prominent with the rice tasting more ginger-ly over a few spoonfuls.
Some may see Don Godzilla as being pretentious by including truffle as an element to Hainanese chicken rice for the sake of being trendy, but it does seem to be more than just that. Whilst Don Godzilla is a concept where the folks of Chirashi King Kong explores further into Donburi featuring cooked elements, it does look like the offering of the various chicken rice dishes is to pay homage to the former tenants of its space — a move that is to provide office workers in the area the same food option with their own unique twist despite the tenant change. If that is truly the case, it is indeed a pretty thoughtful approach — not to mention how there is always some level of quality to be expected with Chirashi King Kong’s offerings that Don Godzilla does seem to play well to. Chirashi King Kong is pretty much a personal favourite, and Don Godzilla pretty much delivers in the same respect — a spot that one should check out especially for those who are truffle lovers, or if they are already fans of Chirashi King Kong’s truffle rice!
The photo may not look like much but the mushroom was fantastically juicy! It provided a toothsome firmness when I bit into it, which is a testament to just how fresh it was.
The caramelised onions were also great in texture and the right level of sweet. And again, the roasted potatoes were crispy and fluffy as well.
All in all a great burger. I almost forgot I wasn't eating any meat!
Hailing from Omotesando, Tokyo, Japan, @flippers.jp is well known for their fluffy soufflé pancakes 🥞❤️, but I was pleasantly surprised that they serve a pretty good cuppa coffee too!
Despite it being several months into the Tiger Year 🐯🎋, I certainly didn't mind this mega kawaii cutie served up on my cuppa Mocha at @flippers.singapore ! 🥰☕❤️❤️
Thank you for brightening up my day, pretty latte art is always a mood booster, don't you guys agree? 🥰☀️
