Besides the fact that it's shaped like a cuboid, it is actually meant to resemble a pear, the outer layer is made up of the actual pear skin, which gives the mouthfeel of actually have the fruit itself.
Within the cake itself is a refreshing pear compote with a honey and almond base for that crunch to the overall cake. Now that Christmas is coming, I'll be looking forward to the new menu, and upcoming cakes.
1. Santa's Surprise, a Hawaiian style pizza, topped with pineapples, 2 kinds of ham, mozzarella cheese, pine nuts and a stuffed crust filled with more mozzarella cheese.
2. Hainanese Chicken Rice, this literally felt like I was having a plate of chicken rice on pizza, its slightly on the salty side, but I'm my opinion, one of my favourite of the lot.
3. Satay Sedap, this would appeal to many, as the pizza is slathered with a generous amount of satay sauce, succulent pieces of chicken and fresh cucumber for that refreshing taste.
4. Fiery Hot Chick, while my tolerance for spiciness is quite high, I couldn't finish this pizza. The good thing is that the spice doesn't linger for long in your mouth.
5. Kebab Boom Boom! Lastly, a pizza with ingredients similar to a kebab and most importantly you can roll the pizza and enjoy it like a kebab as well! Pretty interesting!
Thank you @pezzopizzasg for the food and hospitality, @brandcellar for hosting, @craziben and @thefussyfoodie_ for the invite.
With flavours like matcha(level 1 to 3) to the usual few of houjicha and Earl grey and uncommon ones like iribancha, there are many options to choose from.
I had a double scoop of matcha 3 and Iribancha with the latter becoming my favourite now. The level 3 matcha was quite manageable in my opinion, you do get the intense flavour ending on a bitter note. Iribancha was the unique one, with a smoky flavour similar to that of a smoked ham turning it into more of a savoury softserve instead of a sweet one.
The rose flavour was really distinct and the fact that it doesn't overwhelm the coffee makes it really enjoyable to drink. It's on the sweeter side but it makes for a good bottle of refreshment on a hot day in JB.
It was pretty packed when we arrive, with many families coming with reservations but luckily for me, I managed to get a seat within 15 mins.
Among the dishes we tried, burnt chicken was my favourite, that charred flavour and spiciness makes the whole dish really addictive to eat. The other dishes were pretty common, and quite disappointing.
The lighting here was really bad cause of the fluorescent lights so if you wanna take a good photo here, come during the day for natural lighting.
There are 8 flavours here at Dopa dopa, ranging from common flavours like Pistachio, hazelnuts to uncommon flavours like lemon basil sorbet. I settled for Green tea toasted rice(Genmaicha) and hazelnut, a combination of the roastiness and nuttiness together makes the gelato so much more enjoyable. A flavour I would recommend would be Avocado, it's like having the fruit itself in a semi-solid state.
The oolong taste was really prominent with a subtle burnt flavour. Kuromitsu was also added to give an additional touch of flavour to the milk tea.
As for the purple sweet potato, I felt this was alot stronger tasting then the one I had at the pop up at takashimaya. It's really like having the mash version of the sweet potato, that's how "gao" it is. Can't wait to be back to try the other drinks.
I like the balance of the strawberry, sweet and slightly tart with hints of caramel at the end. Quite a safe flavour to pick for non adventurous eaters.
Make sure to head down early if you want to try their new oolong flavour!
The cubes was extra crispy while maintaining the soft texture inside, drizzled with my choice of sweet Thai chilli and Japanese Goma. This is one addictive snack to munch on.
The chicken was sous vide-d before being added to the ramen, making it really tender and easy to chew. The texture of the ramen had that bite to it which i really love, even though the soup was a little salty this time round. Brothers Ramen will always be the place to go to if you are looking for a soothing bowl of ramen without breaking the bank.
Black sesame single malt whisky. Whisky with black sesame, who would have thought this combination would go so well together. The whisky plays an important role in this flavour by bringing out the roastiness of the black sesame. Pretty good and interesting flavour I would say.
The Single Origin Coffee carries a robust flavour to it, it's like having a cup of coffee in ice cream form. But sad to say, their crepe was quite disappointing, lack of the eggy flavour and texture. Nevertheless this place never fails to amaze with the uncommon ice cream flavours they churn out.
Having tried Smooy, I might actually consider getting a cup of froyo instead of ice-cream. While we often seen matcha incorporated in ice-creams, matcha yogurt is actually a viable option too!
While the intial taste is still packed of yogurt flavour, you have the earthy bitter flavour at the end. My toppings were crispy mix(mini malteses), Dutch cookies and Spanish nougat sauce.
While I managed to balance between sweet and tangy, I would recommend not picking strong flavoured toppings if you want to fully savour the flavour of the matcha froyo. Otherwise, any other toppings is fine.
PS: When the froyo melts, it actually tastes like an actual matcha softserve.
Thank you @smooy.sg for the Froyo and @mysweetlittletooth for inviting
