Double scoop of mixed flavours ($8), Blue Planet and Salted Chocolate Chip. Blue Planet has coconut milk, cashew milk and milk with that butterfly pea or blue pea flower in it to give it that blue colour! The real star of the show is Salted Chocolate Chip- it was so so so so good! Not cloying at all and it’s the perfect way to begin your vegan journey because tbh it tastes rich, just like a regular salted chocolate ice cream, but a tinge lighter! HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS.
Since it’s a new venture by Joyden, best known for their seafood, you can’t really be all that surprised that their fish dishes are bomb dot com. Loved this cod fish garnished with ginger but not overpowered by it. It was fatty and oily in all the right ways and i couldn’t get enough!
I’ll order the Specialty Rose Wine Soy Sauce Chicken ($19 for half) just for their rose wine soy sauce which was salty and sweet all at once. Eat up with some rice or their Egg Noodles ($3.80) and you’re good to go! Tip: add some of their homemade chilli sauce (tastes like crunchy haybeehiam) into the noodles to elevate the taste!
Simply delectable! Caramelised fat melting in your mouth with each bite. This Honey-Glazed Black Barbeque Pork Belly($13) is perfect for sharing and so yummmmmy!
With Burpple 1-for-1 we managed to order two value sets for the price of one! We got their Abundance beef set (13.80) and their Prosperity Pork set (9.90). We got one Tom yum soup base (tangy w a little spice) and one superior pork soup base (could use a little bit more salt but it was sweet and light) (do note that it costs 3.80 extra per soup base). The meat was Super trendy and their corn slices were buttered! The meal was affordable & satisfying. We will be back!
Heads up guys! Pasir Ris Hawker Centre has some pretty good Ma La hot pot hidden amongst the trendy food options on the second floor. There a queue most of the time but it’s always fast moving probably because of the very feisty lady boss who hates wasting time. Tons of fresh ingredients to choose from! Vegetables are $1 a pick, chicken was $2 and beefs and muttons are $3 a pop! It cost us $15 for a 3 person portion with 2 bowls of rice! It was a little bit oily BUT not salty at all and the taste was ON POINT! For spice heads I recommend going for big spice because medium spice didn’t really do anything for me. But definitely always a trustworthy option when you’ve got a Ma la craving!
For $12 bucks, this was so worth it! It was a generous helping and we finished every bit of it. The cons were that it is takeaway only! So we brought it over to the hawker centre to eat. But still, it was worth the hassle. The ingredients were fresh and the spice level for small heat was just right. They had a lot of options at the store as well. From meats to vegetables to mushrooms. We got it in small heat- It had a little kick but not enough to alter the taste. It felt a little herbal as well. Oh, the chicken slices were extra tasty or some reason with the soup.
Facing macs, this is the one right at the corner end. The mala here is a little salty but Super tasty and has always been consistently good in my opinion- compared to riri Hong’s occasional hit or miss standards. All the ingredients were evenly soaked in the sauce and medium spice gave it a nice heat! Best part was that it was surprisingly not oily. The ingredients were quite fresh too! Will be back for sure. At $13 I felt like it was quite affordable for the generous portions! The auntie who runs the store seems to always be in a bad mood though. But I felt like the food was worth it!
So excited that Shake Shack is now in Singapore! We tried two of their burgers, the first being their ShackBurger ($9.20) which honestly tastes better than it looks. On first glance, it looks ordinary but then you bite into it and it all melts into your mouth- bouncy potato buns, the juicy Angus beef patty and their signature secret sauce which gives me barbeque sauce vibes! The other burger, my fave, is their ‘Shroom Burger ($10.80). I’ve not had a good veggie burger in a while but this one was amazing! It’s basically fried portobello mushroom filled with a variation of cheeses and served in a potato bun. Get your instastories ready for that boomerang-worthy moment when the cheese oooozes out! For drinks I recommend trying their ShackMeister Ale which was exclusively brewed for Shake Shack. It’s citrus-y and a little bitter- a perfect pairing for your meaty burgers! We also tried their Pandan Shake($7.80), a Singapore exclusive, if you really like kaya, this one is for you because it’s vanilla and pandan and coconut with Gula Melaka. Really unique but a little too sweet for my taste!
I had their beef bowl and it was SO GOOD! Their tomato soup complimented the rice bowl perfectly and we ended the meal w their Kueh Salat which I HIGHLY recommend. Will be back!
This one is perfect for group-sharing. Their Wagyu Truffle Beef Hor Fun ($68) that is generous in portion and features slices of A4 Kagoshima wagyu soaked in truffle-gravy that melted in our mouths.
Pretty sure I’ll be back soon 😍
Their Firecracker Chicken and Maple Fritters ($16) is literally a culinary adventure on its own. The crunch and spicy-saltiness of the fried chicken cubes coupled with soothing sweetness of the maple you-tiaos. Yum~
