I’ve been here multiple times and always look forward to give another bread a go. Here’s a beautiful spread of avocado over rye bread. I love the pop of capers, pomegranate seeds and feta cheese for it gives more dimension to the avo layer. A well-executed brunch dish, except that the poached egg would have been better with Hollandaise sauce or a dash of salt and pepper. A beauty nonetheless

This is the crispy salmon sushi that came with a layer of coquette as the base. It totally altered the temperature of the fish and thus it could be an abomination to purist. However, it’s still an interesting starter for $18

This was recommended by my siblings and I really enjoyed the broth. You can taste the flavours from the bones and the fish stock. It became lovelier with a squeeze of the lime. The beef slices were tender. Just that I’m particular about the pho noodles and this was plainly kway teow so it missed the mark in terms of that lightness and springiness true blue pho noodles have.

This was $48, really expensive when it’s 1/3 a slab. I guess we were paying for the ambience or perhaps the time taken to cook the ribs till it was tender enough to fall off the bone. However, I can’t put a finger to the flavours of the rice, it didn’t sit with me even though the ribs itself was amazing.

The rosti is tasty but pairing it with beef overpowers the lightness of this shredded potato dish. I would think a fish pairing or sausage pairing might make more sense.

Love the big juicy oyster pieces in the oyster omelette! But I think what’s key is also great batter- chewy and fragrant ($4)
I really enjoyed the Prawn Noodle Soup for that sizeable prawn pieces. Sadly the cleaning wasn’t to the tee, so I spotted some gunk. Broth is flavourful, but a bit more depth would have made it better none the less it’s still good stuff ($5.20- because it’s takeaway)

The wantan in the soup are so soft and chewy. I prefer thick charred cuts of char siew over the thin, rough red char siew so this was really good. However, I think the portion of noodles was quite a lot for me. Nonetheless, those with a bigger appetite will feel that this is a good portion.

You got to give their Chili paste a go! The hae bee hiam (dried shrimp paste) within it makes it so fragrant we couldn’t help ask for more. The char siu is perfectly charred, just that it could have been better if there were fattier cuts. Nonetheless, this shop is amazingly popular and we saw it close for the day by 12.30pm.

Having always had the classic Truffle Yakuniku at Tanuki Raw, I was curious about their burritos under the label of Sumo Bar Happy. I’ve heard of Sumo Bar Happy and have even pinned in on my Google maps but never got around to giving it a go. Their mixed rice was something different from the usual burritos. The steak was seasoned beautifully, adding flavours to every bite. However, I would have to say the winner for this dish is the little salsa dip. The spiciness packs a punch and it’s so amazing when it slather it onto the burrito. Delicious meal!

This $8 meal packs a punch! The crunchiness of the peanuts, the saltiness of the salted veggies, the chewiness of the green beans and the tinge of sweetness to the Lei Cha (Thunder Tea) was just perfect. Really enjoyed the burst of flavours in every bite that I took! This is nestled within one of the open Hawker centres at the ground level of People’s Park Centre

The seared scallops and prawn linguine was amazing. Linguine cooked al dente and the thick stock wonderfully coats the pasta. The seafood morsels were fresh and juicy. I would recommend this dish!

Now I understand why this is so highly raves about. You get an assortment of tempura- vegetable, seafood, meat and fish at the price of $15. What more can you ask for? I particularly enjoyed the mushroom and the prawn. The flavours are locked in and one bite into it you can taste that sweetness and saltiness all rolled into one. The spicy sauce just completes the whole meal and now your tongue is dancing with joy. Need I say more? You should definitely give this a shot.
