Auntie Kim's Popiah at Bishan ($1.50 per roll) 🌯

I ordered two rolls of popiah, one with and one without chilli. The one with chilli was tastier and much more flavourful! πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ Garlic was added into each roll of popiah as well, which resulted in a strong garlic taste that I find rather peculiar, but I still enjoyed the two rolls anyway πŸ˜‹

PROS 😺
- generous amount of fillings, especially the peanuts and turnips
- the popiah skin was not too thick, yet it could hold the fillings together to prevent them from falling out easily
- the texture was amazingly on point - both the crunchy fritters and beansprouts contributed to the crunchiness of the popiah, which comeplenented really well with its chewy skin
- affordably priced at $1.50 per roll
- the stall owner was pretty friendly

CONS 😾
- the size of this popiah was smaller/shorter compared to other popiah(s) out there

scrambled as hurriedly as I could to the nearest llaollao outlet upon reading the article on channelnewsasia about the departure of llaollao from Singapore - just so I could get my one last llaollao fix here in SG 😒 can't believe this marks the very last time I will be having this cup of sweet, creamy frozen goodness layered with the oh-so-amazing chocorock sauce, which boasts of an inexplicable level of decadence and potency. frozen yogurt is my absolute FAVOURITE food to indulge in, and llaollao's froyo has definitely hit the spot for me πŸ˜πŸ”πŸ’― well, this is just my personal preference right here - I like my froyo to be rich and milky, yet not overly creamy. llaollao's froyo is undoubtedly one of the best, if not the best I've ever tasted...

I am beyond devastated, really. a part of me feels missing already πŸ˜”πŸ˜©πŸ˜πŸ’”

Thunder Tea Rice, aka ζ“‚θŒΆ (Lei Cha), from a stall at the air-conditioned Gourmet Paradise foodcourt located at Toa Payoh HDB Hub. Initially, I had high hopes for this dish, after reading up on several good reviews about it. However, I am a little disappointed by how underwhelming it is. The ingredients were just the usual TTR ingredients, nothing special. The soup was terribly diluted and lacked the strong tea taste. Overall, with its slightly hefty price point, I feel that this is not worth queuing up for and I have definitely eaten much better TTR at other places in Singapore.

Picked cha soba as my choice of carb, lemongrass chicken thigh as my protein, and my three toppings were: pickled cucumbers, beansprouts and roasted celery. Chose the Thai spicy vinaigrette as the dressing for my salad.

The soba tasted a little stale - perhaps because they kept it in the plastic container for quite a while and when I ordered, they simply took the container out and added the additional ingredients. Even though I could barely taste any hint of lemongrass in the lemongrass chicken thigh, the chicken meat was tender and I quite like it. All three toppings were pretty well-seasoned, albeit being a tad too oily. Picked the wrong choice of dressing, as the vinaigrette was way too sweet and did not go well with my salad.

Overall, I'm satisfied with my choice of toppings, but not so with the soba and the dressing. I loved how generous the portion was, despite the cheaper price point in comparison to other salad shops. This did not fill me up though... I think I should pick two or even three proteins the next time I order πŸ˜…

Yummy thunder tea rice! Although the vegetables were a tad too oily, at least drinking the soup kinda 'washed down' the greasiness 😌 It is reasonably priced at $3.50 per serving with white rice and $4 with brown rice. You could just buy the tea (aka "茢汀") alone for $1.50 too! 🍡✌🏼

I've patronised this stall several times, and the average waiting time on weekends (during lunch time) is around 30-40mins. Needless to say, coming on weekdays would be much better where it is not as crowded and the queues are way shorter.

Do note that their working hours are only from 6AM - 2:30PM, and they are closed on Mondays πŸ€—

salad from the newly openedΒ superfudoΒ cafe atΒ holland v ($15) πŸ₯— got the β€œsuper balanced" portion, where I picked multigrain rice, chicken, pumpkins, snap peas, corn and mixed seeds. food tasted all rightβ€”p mediocre, nothing special and not worth the $15 imo. to add on, our dining experience wasn’t the most pleasant bc the tables were dirty and the food took more than 20 minutes to be served, even though my friend and I were the only customers in the cafe.

Peanut butter lovers, you wouldn't want to give this a miss! πŸ˜‰ The bun to filling ratio is just right, any less filling would be too stingy on their part and any more would end up being too 'gelat'. It's best to eat this when it's fresh out from the oven, or if you're buying this home, try placing it in the microwave for about 15-20 seconds - the peanut butter will end up being all warm and flowy 😍

Do note that the price of this bun is not standardised (as well as all other buns/cakes/bread sold at Bakery Cuisine) as I've seen other Bakery Cuisine outlets selling it at $1.80 as well :)

Overall rating: 7.5/10

There wasn't any green tea taste at all, which was pretty disappointing given that the exterior of the bread was so brightly stained in green. Fortunately, there was an abundance of sweet, mushy red bean and the mochi was really sticky and chewy! I guess this could just be considered as a regular red bean mochi bun. 😊

Back at one of my favourite comfort food placesβ€”Cedele πŸ’–

The DIY salad here comes with either 1 or 2 proteins ($9.90/$10.90). Ordered mine with 2 proteins, namely the tofu quinoa stir-fry and grilled chicken. Both tasted really good, especially the former which had me craving for more the moment I finished the portion on my plate hehe. My four toppings were eggplants, sweet potatoes, broccoli and edamame beans. I love the grilled eggplants served at Cedele as they are always incredibly juicy! Picked the honey paprika sauce as my choice of dressing, which went pretty well with my salad.

Overall, I love how affordable this salad was, without compromising on the portion size as this was a pretty large serving :) Do take note that the DIY salad is only available at Cedele's Bakery Cafe outlets 😊

Think thick, creamy pumpkin purΓ©e encased in a soft, pillowy bun - yum! πŸ˜‹ Since Halloween is right around the corner, I decided to get this bun to satisfy my craving for pumpkins because of all the pumpkin-carving videos I've watched over the past few days πŸ˜‚ And wow, coincidentally, it's also National Pumpkin Day today! hehe πŸŽƒ

Mama Patisserie is one of my favourite bakeries in Singapore, because of how consistent they have been since a few years back when I first discovered this bakery at its Fortune Centre outlet. Their buns are always densely filled, where the dough to filling ratio is about 3:2 😍 Oh and they sell vegetarian-friendly bread as well, so to all my vegetarian friends out there, do check this bakery out! πŸ€—

The bingsu from O'ma Spoon is truly one of the best I've ever tried in Singapore. Each bowl comes with a mountain of creamy shaved ice, and condensed milk by the side which is free-flow from the counter. The ice here is so finely shaved and does not melt easily. Loved the toppings that accompanied the shaved ice as well ☺️

matcha bingsu topped with sweet azuki beans, chewy ricecakes and 2 sticks of matcha pocky 🍡🍧

the shaved ice melted too quickly :( the rice cakes were not bad, but overall this entire dish kinda fell short of the authentic bingsu taste, not sure why but I just felt like I was eating shaved ice with minimal toppings, which I personally wish that they could have been more generous with.
